LIGR Live gives you two ways to run adverts during a broadcast. You can set up Ad Allocation in the Ads tab, or you can add ads to the playlists in your Automated Game Plan in the Automation tab. Both are valid. This article explains what each one does so you can pick the one that suits your broadcast.
The two options at a glance
Ad Allocation (Ads tab)
You set up Ad Allocation per competition. It has four parts:
Ad Set: the set of adverts the competition uses.
Team Allocation: how the adverts are shared between the home and away teams, set as percentages.
Events Ad Sets Allocation: ad sets that play with goals, yellow cards and red cards.
Live Sponsor Loop: switch it on, choose how often sponsors show (a number of times per period, or every so many seconds), and set how many seconds each one stays on.
The Live Sponsor Loop plays sponsors inside the scorebug, so the scorebug stays on screen the whole time.
Playlist ads (Automation tab)
Playlist ads are part of your Automated Game Plan. You add them to the playlists that run before the match, in breaks and during live play. There are two kinds:
In-graphic ads sit inside graphics that have an ad area, such as the match ID, scorebug, team lists or match stats. You can choose an advert from your organisation, or give the slot to the home or away club.
Detached ads sit anywhere on screen at any size. You add them as an Advertisement or Ad Template item, set the start time and either a duration or Loop, then drag them into place on the canvas.
Because they live in playlists, these ads follow your triggers. They can play with events such as goals, at set times before or during the match, and in breaks like half time.
What each one does well
Ad Allocation
Quick to set up for a whole competition in one place.
Sponsors appear without taking the scorebug off screen.
Home and away sponsors get a fair share through the team percentages.
Goals, yellow cards and red cards can each have their own ad set.
Playlist ads
Ads can be any size and sit anywhere on the 1920x1080 canvas.
A playlist can clear the scorebug with Hide all, show a full sponsor moment, then bring the scorebug back with Show scorebug.
Ads can be tied to event, time, milestone and break triggers, alongside your other graphics.
Clubs can be given their own ad slots, which they fill from the Ad Slots page in the Club Portal.
Priority and guards let you control which playlist wins, so goals and cards always come first.
Which one should you choose?
Ask yourself what you want viewers to see and how much control you need.
You want sponsors to keep cycling while the scorebug stays up. Use Ad Allocation and switch on the Live Sponsor Loop.
You want a simple, competition-wide setup with a fair home and away split. Use Ad Allocation with Team Allocation.
You want a large sponsor moment that replaces the scorebug for a few seconds. Use a playlist with Hide all, an Ad Template or Advertisement, then Show scorebug. See Adding time-triggered graphics and sponsor loops during play.
You want ads in pre-game, half time or post-game. Use playlist ads in your break playlists.
You want clubs to supply their own adverts. Use club ad slots in playlists. See How to delegate ad slots to clubs through the Club Portal.
You want ads in a particular graphic, such as the team lists or match stats. Use in-graphic ads. See Adding in-graphic ads to playlist graphics.
Example: LIGR Demo League
Say the LIGR Demo League wants sponsors on screen during Harbour City (HCF) v Ridgeview (RVR) at LIGR Demo Stadium. If they want sponsors to rotate inside the scorebug throughout play, Ad Allocation with the Live Sponsor Loop does the job. If they want a full-size sponsor board every few minutes of play, plus club adverts at half time, playlist ads in the game plan give them that control.
Make sure ads can show on air
Whichever option you choose, check the overlay. In the Ads section of the overlay window, set Ad Type to Brands and switch on Enable Ads. Ads only show when both are set.
Tips and common mistakes
Give time-triggered sponsor playlists priority 4 with the guards isLive and isNotPenaltyShootout, so they only run during play and goals and cards always win. See Configure a playlist: name, priority and guards.
End every live playlist with Show scorebug or Hide all except scorebug so the scorebug comes back after the ad.
Use Preview to check the timing of your ad playlists before match day.
