Every playlist in an Automated Game Plan has its own settings. In them you can rename the playlist, set its priority so the right playlist plays when two are triggered together, and add guards that decide whether it's allowed to run at all.
Before you start
You need access to the Automation tab. Automation needs the Graphics module.
You need an Automated Game Plan with at least one playlist in it. This could be a pre or post match playlist, a break playlist or an in-game playlist. If you don't have one yet, see Create an Automated Game Plan.
Open the playlist settings
Go to the Automation tab and open your game plan.
Find the playlist you want to change on the Pre/Post Match & Breaks tab or the In Game (Live) tab.
Click Configure on that playlist. Its settings open on the Playlist tab.
Triggers are also set in Configure, under Trigger Playlists. They're covered in Add triggers to a playlist.
Rename the playlist
The playlist name is shown at the top of the Playlist tab. Click into the name field and type a new one.
Pick a name that tells you exactly what the playlist does and when it fires. For example, "HCF goal", "Half-time sponsors" or "2 minutes to kick-off" is much easier to find on a busy match day than "Playlist 3". Clear names also help when you review a completed match and want to see which playlist ran.
Show the advanced options
Priority and guards are hidden by default to keep the settings simple. Click Show Advanced Options on the Playlist tab to reveal the Priority and Guards fields.
Set the priority
Priority decides which playlist wins when two are triggered at the same time. The higher-priority playlist wins, and it can take over a lower-priority one that's already running. Choose a level from the Priority field.
Level | Meaning |
1 (Highest) | Takes over from anything lower. Good for goals. |
2 (Default) | Every new playlist starts here. |
3 | Lower priority. |
4 (Lowest) | Gives way to everything else. |
Priority examples
Goals highest. When Harbour City score against Ridgeview, the goal playlist wins over any card, stat or sponsor playlist.
Cards high, milestones and stats lower. Card playlists sit just below goals. Milestone and stats playlists, such as a team stats lower third every three corners, sit lower so a card or goal always comes first.
Time-triggered sponsors at 4. Sponsor playlists that run every few minutes during play give way to everything else, so goals and cards always win.
Pre-match. Set button-triggered playlists such as "Players entering" or "About to start" lower, and a "2 minutes to kick-off" time-triggered playlist higher. That way the time-triggered playlist isn't skipped.
For more on how priority plays out across a match, see Playlist priority and guards explained.
Add guards
Guards are conditions that must all be true before the playlist can run. If any one condition isn't met, the playlist doesn't play, even when its trigger fires. Leave the Guards field empty if you don't want any restrictions.
Choose guards in Configure > Playlist > Show Advanced Options > Guards. Two common guards are:
isLive: the playlist only runs while the match is in live play.
isNotPenaltyShootout: the playlist never runs during a penalty shootout.
Together these suit sponsor playlists that should only appear during normal play. Individual overlay graphics inside a playlist can have their own Transition Guards too. See Set graphic variables, update type and transition guards.
Time triggers and priority
When you add a Time trigger (Time elapsed) to an in-game playlist, a yellow note explains that this trigger defaults to priority 4 with the guards isLive and isNotPenaltyShootout. Attaching the trigger doesn't change the playlist's own priority or guards, so set them here in Show Advanced Options. See Run a playlist at a set time with time triggers.
Tips and common mistakes
Give colliding playlists different priorities. If two playlists can fire together, such as a goal and a sponsor, set them at different levels so you know which one wins.
Don't put everything at level 1. If every playlist is the highest priority, priority stops doing its job. Save level 1 for the moments that must always be seen.
Remember guards need every condition to pass. If a playlist never seems to play, check its guards first. One condition that can't be met will block it every time.
Test before match day. Use Preview a playlist to check what it shows, and Review a match against your game plan to see which playlist fired and why in a LIGR Demo League match.
