How advertising works in game plans

The two ways to add ads to a game plan, in-graphic and detached, and the overlay settings needed for ads to show.

On Rive themes, you control ads through your game plan's playlists. You decide exactly which ad shows, where, when and for how long, and every playlist can carry ads: pre-game, half time, goals, milestones or time triggers.

Two types of ad

In-graphic (baked-in) ads

Detached ads

What it is

An ad inside a graphic, in an ad area designed into it (e.g. the scorebug or team list).

A standalone ad placed anywhere on screen.

Size

Fixed by the graphic's ad area.

Any size.

Position

Fixed by the graphic.

You choose where it goes.

How to add

Click the graphic in the playlist and use its Assets section.

Add Item to Sequence > Add advertisement.

Your ad or the club's ad

For either type, you can pick a specific ad from your organisation, or create an ad slot for the home or away club. The club then fills the slot from the Ad slots page in their Club Portal.

Make sure ads can show

Ads only appear on an overlay that has ads turned on:

  1. Go to Matches, find the match and expand it.

  2. Click ⋮ next to the overlay and choose Settings.

  3. Set Ad Type to Brands and turn on Enable Ads.

  4. Save.

Good to know: The ad allocation percentages and Live Sponsor Loop on the Ads tab are for inbuilt (legacy) themes. On Rive themes, ads are controlled only by your game plan.
