Overview
LIGR's football automation system offers two main advertising types: in-graphic ads and detached ads. In-graphic ads are embedded within your broadcast graphics as sponsor placements in standard sizes. Detached ads are standalone overlays that can be positioned anywhere on screen at any custom size. Both types can be triggered by time intervals or match events, and can be assigned centrally or delegated to clubs.
In-Graphic Ads
In-graphic ads are advertisements that appear as part of your broadcast graphics — such as sponsor logos on scoreboards or ad banners within lower-thirds. These ads are constrained to the ad areas defined within the graphic itself.
Common in-graphic ad sizes:
* 1000×200: Full-width banner ads
* 500×250: Half-width sidebar placements
* 1000×100: Thin banner strips
Detached Ads
Detached ads are standalone advertisement overlays that sit independently on top of your broadcast at any position and size you define. These are not tied to a specific graphic and can appear anywhere on screen.
Unlike in-graphic ads which are constrained to specific slot sizes, detached ads can be any dimension. You specify the X/Y coordinates and width/height to position them exactly where needed on the 1920×1080 canvas.
Configuring In-Graphic Ads in Playlists
1. Navigate to the Automations tab and open the relevant Automated Game Plan
2. Open the playlist where you want the ad to appear — for example, a halftime or pregame playlist
3. Click Add Item to Sequence at the bottom of the playlist timeline
4. Select Add Advertisement from the menu
5. The Configure Ad Slot modal opens
6. Fill in Ad Slot Name — give the slot a descriptive name for reference
7. Select Ad Sizes — select one or more sizes this slot will accept (Small, Medium, Large, XLarge, Square, Long, Banner, or Custom). Select sizes that match what your graphic layout expects
8. Select Ad slot for — choose whether this slot belongs to the Home team, Away team, or is a general competition placement
9. Select Team type — select the context (Home, Away, or Neutral)
10. Set Start Time (Offset) — set when within the playlist this ad should begin, in mm:ss format
11. Set Duration — set how long the ad displays. Leave blank to show indefinitely until the next item in the sequence
12. Configure Ad Position — drag the position marker on the 1920×1080 canvas to place the ad on screen. Use Grid Snap for precise alignment or Manual for free positioning
13. Click Add Ad Slot to save it to the playlist timeline
14. Assign an ad set to the slot — either select one from your organisation's library or delegate it to the home or away club
Configuring Detached Ads in Playlists
The process for adding detached ads follows the same steps as in-graphic ads, using the Configure Ad Slot modal. The key difference is that detached ads are not constrained to standard ad slot dimensions — you can specify any custom size and position on the 1920×1080 canvas.
When configuring Ad Position for detached ads, use the position marker to place the ad anywhere on screen. Detached ads overlay on top of all other graphics, making them ideal for L-bar advertising or corner sponsor logos that don't interfere with essential broadcast graphics.
Time-Triggered Advertising
Set up ads to appear at specific time intervals during the match by configuring the Start Time (Offset) and Duration fields in the Configure Ad Slot modal.
For ads that appear during live gameplay rather than breaks, configure your ad slots in the In Game (Live) tab of your Automated Game Plan. These work the same way but fire in response to match events or time triggers during active play.
Pre-game ads can run on rotation during the countdown period. In-match ads can be triggered every N minutes by adding multiple ad slot items to your playlist at different time offsets.
Event-Triggered Advertising
Create ads that display in response to match events like goals, cards, or half-time. Event-triggered ads show sponsor branding during high-attention moments.
To configure event-triggered ads, add ad slots to event-triggered playlists in your Automated Game Plan. When the event occurs during the match, the playlist fires and the ad slot displays at the configured time within that sequence.
Ad Assignment and Club Delegation
When assigning an ad set to a slot in your playlist, you have two options:
* Select a specific ad set from your organisation's library — this is useful for league-wide sponsors
* Delegate the slot to the Home Club or Away Club — this allows each club to manage their own sponsor ads through the Club Portal. When delegated, the club's assigned ad automatically appears for their matches
If you delegate a slot, the club must have an ad set uploaded and assigned in their Club Portal for the slot to display. If they haven't uploaded one, the slot will be empty during the broadcast.
Enabling Ads on an Overlay
Ad slots will only display if the overlay assigned to your match has ads enabled. This is a separate step from configuring the ad slots in your playlists.
1. From the Matches tab, find your match and expand it
2. Click the three-dot menu next to the overlay and select Settings
3. Confirm the Ad Type is set to Brands — this is required for your own sponsor ads to appear. Free Tier shows LIGR advertising instead. No Brands shows no advertising at all
4. Toggle Enable Ads to on
5. Save
If Enable Ads is off or Ad Type is not set to Brands, no sponsor ads will display on that overlay regardless of how your playlists are configured.
Common Issues
Ads not appearing on output
Check these in order:
* Feature type — confirm the match overlay is using Graphics + Brands. If Ad Type is set to Graphics only or Free, your ad sets will not display. Check the overlay settings in the Matches tab
* Enable Ads toggle — go to the overlay settings and confirm Enable Ads is toggled on. This must be enabled even if the ad type is set to Brands
* Ad slot configuration — confirm the ad slot exists in the correct playlist in your Automated Game Plan and that the game plan is assigned to the correct competition
* Green dot — confirm the ad set has a green dot. All seven image sizes must be uploaded before an ad set can display
Delegated slot is empty during broadcast
The club has not uploaded an ad set to their Club Portal or has not assigned it to the delegated slot. Contact the club to confirm their ad set is uploaded and assigned.
