How to add an ad slot to an Automated Game Plan playlist

Learn how to add and configure an ad slot in an Automated Game Plan playlist, including sizing, positioning, and assigning or delegating ad sets.

Overview

Ad slots are placements defined inside an Automated Game Plan playlist where an ad set will display. Ad slots control the size, position on screen, timing, and which team the placement belongs to. Once a slot is configured in a playlist, you assign an ad set to fill it.

This guide covers adding an ad slot to a playlist in your Automated Game Plan, configuring its settings, and assigning an ad set or delegating it to a club.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, make sure you have access to the Automations section, an existing Automated Game Plan with playlists already configured, and ad sets uploaded to your organisation or clubs.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Start by navigating to the Automations tab, then open the relevant Automated Game Plan and open the playlist where you want the ad to appear, for example a halftime or pregame playlist.

2. At the bottom of the playlist timeline, click Add Item to Sequence, then select Add Advertisement from the menu. This opens the Configure Ad Slot modal.

3. In the modal, fill in the following fields: give the slot a descriptive Ad Slot Name for reference; choose the Ad Sizes this slot will accept (Small, Medium, Large, XLarge, Square, Long, Banner, or Custom), selecting sizes that match what your graphic layout expects; set Ad slot for to specify whether the slot belongs to the Home team, Away team, or is a general competition placement; set Team type to the context (Home, Away, or Neutral); set the Start Time (Offset) to define when within the playlist the ad should begin, in mm:ss format; set Duration for how long the ad displays, leaving it blank to show indefinitely until the next item in the sequence; and use Ad Position to drag the position marker on the 1920×1080 canvas to place the ad on screen, using Grid Snap for precise alignment or Manual for free positioning.

4. Once configured, click Add Ad Slot to save it to the playlist timeline.

5. Finally, assign an ad set to the slot, either by selecting one from your organisation's library or by delegating it to the home or away club.

Delegation Option

Instead of assigning a specific ad set to a slot yourself, you can delegate the slot to the home or away club. The club then manages their own sponsor content through the Club Portal and their uploaded ad set displays automatically for their matches.

To delegate a slot, select Home Club or Away Club instead of a specific ad set when assigning to the slot in your playlist.

Important Notes

Ad slots will only display if the overlay assigned to your match has ads enabled. This is a separate step from configuring the ad slots in your playlists.

From the Matches tab, find your match, expand it, click the three-dot menu next to the overlay, select Settings, confirm the Ad Type is set to Brands, toggle Enable Ads to on, and save.

If Enable Ads is off or Ad Type is not set to Brands, no sponsor ads will display on that overlay regardless of how your playlists are configured.
