How to add teams to a club

Add new or existing teams to a club, set their sport, age group, gender, division and competitions, and customise a team when it needs its own look.

Teams sit inside a club in LIGR Live. Each team takes its club's logo, colours and venue by default, so you only set them up once. This article shows you how to add teams to a club, link them to your competition, and give a team its own look when you need to.

Before you start

  • Create the club first in Assets > Clubs and Teams.

  • Create your competition first, so you can add the team to it in the same step. For example, LIGR Demo League.

  • If you plan to move a team you already have, make sure that team already exists.

How teams and clubs work together

A club is the parent organisation, such as Harbour City (HCF). Teams sit inside it, for example a senior men's team and a junior team. When you add a team to a club, the team automatically uses the club's:

  • Logo

  • Colours (primary, secondary, primary text and secondary text)

  • Default venue, such as LIGR Demo Stadium

If you update the club later, every team that uses the club's settings updates too. This keeps your graphics consistent across all of a club's teams.

Add a team to a club

  1. Click Assets in the left sidebar, then select Clubs and Teams.

  2. Open the club you want to add a team to.

  3. Click Add Team to Club.

  4. Choose New Team or Existing Team (see below).

  5. Fill in the team details and competitions.

  6. To add more than one team, click Add Another Team and repeat.

  7. When you're finished, click Add Teams to Club to save.

New Team or Existing Team

New Team creates a brand new team inside this club. Existing Team moves a team you already have into this club. Use Existing Team when you created teams before setting up clubs, or when a team needs to sit under a different club. Once moved, the team uses its new club's logo, colours and venue unless it has its own customisation.

Sport, age group, gender and division

Pick the sport this team plays and its age group. Then set the gender and the division the team plays in. These details help you tell similar teams apart, especially when one club has several teams in the same sport.

Competitions

Add the team to your competition. This step matters: only teams in a competition can be picked for that competition's matches. Adding a team to a club does not add it to any competition on its own. If a team is missing when you create a match, check this first.

Edit a team's details

Open a team to see its settings. On the General tab you can change the team's club, division, age group, gender and competitions. Use this to move a team to another club or add it to a new competition later in the season.

Customise a team

Sometimes a team needs to look different from its club. The Customize tab lets a team have its own name, logo, colours or coach. Anything you set here overrides the club's settings for that team only. Other teams in the club keep using the club defaults.

If you want a change to apply to every team in the club, edit the club instead of each team.

Tips and common mistakes

  • You changed the club, but a team didn't update. That team has its own customisation, which overrides the club. Open the team and click Reset to Club Default so it follows the club again.

  • A team doesn't appear when creating a match. Check the team's General tab and make sure it's added to the right competition.

  • Adding several teams at once. Use Add Another Team before saving, so you only click Add Teams to Club once.
