Overview

A team is a group of players that competes in matches within a specific competition. Teams can exist independently or belong to a parent club. When you create a team, you define which competition it plays in, set its graphic display names for broadcast overlays, upload its logo, and configure its colors.

You need to create teams before you can create matches. At minimum, you need two teams assigned to the same competition to create a match.

How to Create a Team

1. Click Assets > Clubs and Teams

2. Click Create a Club or Team (red button, top right)

3. Select Create a Team from the dropdown

4. Fill out team details:

* Select sport

* Select competition (important - determines which matches can use this team)

* Select division, age group, gender

* Enter team name

* Select default venue

* Enter graphic display names: Full Name, Medium Name, Short Name

5. Upload team logo:

* Click upload button

* Crop image, auto-remove or manually remove background, zoom as needed

* Click Save

6. Select team colors:

* Primary color (click color palette)

* Secondary color

* Primary text color

* Secondary text color

7. Click Create Team

Important Notes

Teams must be assigned to a competition to appear in match creation. When creating a match, you select a competition first, then choose teams. Only teams assigned to that competition will appear in the home/away team dropdowns.

If you create a team without assigning it to a competition during creation, you can add the competition assignment later by editing the team. Navigate to the team's General tab, click on the Competitions section, and select one or multiple competitions from the dropdown that appears.

Graphic Display Names

Graphic display names control how the team name appears on broadcast graphics. You set three versions:

* Full Name: Longest version

* Medium Name: Mid-length version

* Short Name: Abbreviated version

This ensures names fit properly in different graphic layouts during broadcasts.

Team Colors

Team colors affect graphic design elements that appear during broadcasts. You configure four color values:

* Primary color: Main team color

* Secondary color: Alternate team color

* Primary text color: Text color for use with primary color backgrounds

* Secondary text color: Text color for use with secondary color backgrounds

These colors are separate from kit colors, which are set later and appear in the control room during broadcasts.

Teams and Clubs

You can create teams without clubs. However, using clubs makes management easier when you have multiple teams under one organization. Teams that belong to clubs inherit the club's logo, colors, and venue by default, though you can override these at the team level if needed.
