Overview
Clubs and teams are two separate organizational levels in LIGR Live. Clubs are parent organizations that contain teams. Teams belong to clubs and inherit the club's logo, colors, and venue by default.
You can create teams without clubs, but using clubs makes management easier when you have multiple teams under one organization. For example, if you have a sports club with an A team, B team, and youth team, creating them all under one club means they automatically share the same logo, colors, and venue unless you customize individual teams.
How Clubs and Teams Work
Clubs are parent organizations. When you create a club, you set:
* Club name
* Home venue
* Graphic display names (Full Name, Medium Name, Short Name)
* Club colors (primary, secondary, primary text, secondary text)
* Club logo
Teams belong to clubs. When you create a team under a club, the team automatically inherits:
* The club's logo
* The club's colors
* The club's default venue
You can override any of these inherited settings at the team level. Changes made in the team's Customize tab override the default inherited club settings.
When to Use Clubs
Use clubs when you have multiple teams under one organization. This saves time because all teams inherit the same logo, colors, and venue. You only need to set these details once at the club level.
If you update the club's logo or colors later, all teams that haven't been customized will automatically use the updated club settings. Teams with customizations keep their unique settings.
When to Create Teams Without Clubs
You can create teams without assigning them to a club. This works well when each team is independent with its own branding and venue. You'll enter the logo, colors, and venue directly for each team.
Important Notes About Team Competition Assignments
Teams must be assigned to a competition to appear in match creation. When creating a match, you select a competition first, then choose teams. Only teams assigned to that competition will appear in the home/away team dropdowns.
You can change a team's competition assignment even after matches have been created. Teams can be assigned to a new competition during a match, but that change does not affect the match itself in terms of match settings. The match will still show that team under the competition it was assigned to before the team's competition assignment was changed and before the match started. If a new match is created with that team, it will appear under the newly assigned competition.
Customizing Teams Within a Club
By default, all teams within a club inherit the club's logo, colors, and venue. To customize a specific team:
1. Click Assets > Clubs and Teams
2. Select the team
3. Click the Customize tab
4. Change team name, logo, colors, graphic display names, or add a manager/head coach
5. Click Save
Changes made in the Customize tab override the default inherited club settings. If you want changes to apply across all teams within a club, edit the parent club instead.
Archiving Clubs vs Teams
You cannot archive a club that has teams under it. All teams must be archived first before you can archive the club. Archiving a team affects all players on that team.
