Overview
If you stop a match but streaming charges continue, the stream itself is still running. Closing the browser tab does not stop the stream or billing. You must stop the stream with the Stop Stream button, or switch on Auto Stream so it stops on schedule.
Check That You Stopped the Stream
To end a stream properly, open the match's Stream Monitor and click Stop Stream, then confirm. Once the stream has stopped, you stop incurring charges for streaming and highlights. Stopping the stream stops its destinations too.
If you closed the browser tab without clicking Stop Stream, the stream is still running and charges continue.
Verify Stream Status in Multiview
To check whether a stream is still active, click the Streaming tab in the left-hand dashboard. The Multiview page displays all active streams in a grid layout, so you can check whether the match stream is still shown with a live indicator. If the stream appears in Multiview, it is still active and must be stopped.
To stop it, click the stream tile in Multiview to open the stream, then click Stop Stream and confirm.
Use Automation to Prevent This Issue
You can use Auto Stream so the stream starts, goes live and stops on a schedule. When you create or edit a stream, go to the Automation section of the CREATE STREAM SETTINGS or UPDATE STREAM SETTINGS window, switch on Auto Stream, then click Create or Update. To reach the settings from the Stream Monitor, open the three-dot menu and click Stream Settings.
You can also switch the Auto stream toggle on directly in the Stream Monitor. This makes sure streams stop even if you forget to stop them yourself.
Important Points
1. Charges begin as soon as you click Start Stream.
2. Charges continue until you stop the stream.
3. Closing browser tabs does not stop the stream or billing.
4. You must stop the stream with Stop Stream or use Auto Stream to stop it.
5. Use Multiview to monitor all active streams and catch any that should have stopped.
