Overview

Pre-roll and post-roll videos appear before and after highlights, compilations, and other video content. Strategic use of these short clips can enhance your branding, promote sponsors, and drive viewer engagement without overwhelming your audience.

Keep Pre-Rolls Short

Pre-roll videos should be 3-5 seconds maximum. Viewers want to see the action quickly, so long introductions reduce engagement and increase the likelihood viewers will skip or abandon the content.

Short pre-rolls maintain momentum and get to the highlight faster, which is particularly important for social media where attention spans are shorter.

Use Pre-Rolls for Branding

Pre-rolls are ideal for displaying your organization's logo, competition branding, or sponsor identification. These brief branding moments establish context without delaying the main content.

Examples of effective pre-roll content:

* Organization logo with competition name

* Sponsor logo or brand message

* League or tournament branding

Use Post-Rolls for Calls-to-Action

Post-rolls are the right place for calls-to-action. After viewers have watched the highlight, they're more receptive to follow, subscribe, or visit website prompts.

Effective post-roll calls-to-action include:

* Subscribe to your channel

* Follow on social media

* Visit your website

* Watch more highlights

Post-rolls can be slightly longer than pre-rolls since the viewer has already engaged with the main content.

Create Multiple Versions and Test Performance

Create multiple versions of your pre-roll and post-roll content and test which performs better on social media platforms. Different branding styles, sponsor placements, and calls-to-action will resonate differently with your audience.

Monitor engagement metrics to identify which versions drive better results, then use the highest-performing versions for your regular content distribution.

Adding Pre-Roll and Post-Roll to Content

You can add pre-roll and post-roll videos when configuring highlight settings or when editing individual highlights.

For highlight settings:

1. Navigate to Multimedia > Highlights

2. Click the Settings tab

3. Select your competition from the dropdown

4. When adding or editing events, select a pre-roll video and post-roll video from the available options

5. Click Save

These settings apply to all future highlights captured for that competition.

For individual highlights:

1. Open a highlight in full-screen view

2. Click Edit Highlight below the video player

3. In the video editor, click the + button at the start (pre-roll) or end (post-roll) of the timeline

4. Drag and drop a video from the Media panel into the Add Media section

5. Click Save as New Video

Note: Only videos can be used as pre-roll and post-roll content, not images.
