Understanding User Roles and Permissions

Written by Julian Rodrigues
Updated today

User roles in LIGR Live control what each person in your Organisation can see, access, and do — from full account ownership down to view-only access for match recordings.

Assigning the right role to each team member keeps your production secure, avoids accidental changes to live matches, and ensures scorers, operators, and admins only see the tools they need.

Why Roles Matter

LIGR Live is used by mixed teams — owners, producers, gameday operators, scorers, and club staff — often working on the same matches. Roles let you:

• Protect billing and ownership settings

• Limit who can create or edit Assets like Competitions, Teams, and Players

• Give scorers access to only the LiveScore App

• Let clubs manage their own content through the Club Portal without touching your main Organisation

Organisation-Level Roles

These roles apply across your entire Organisation and control access to all Assets, Matches, and settings.

Owner

The highest permission level in LIGR Live.

• Full access to every feature

• Manages billing and subscription

• Can transfer ownership to another user

• Can add, remove, and change roles for all other users

There is typically one Owner per Organisation.

Admin

Admins can manage almost everything the Owner can, with two exceptions.

• Full access to Assets, Matches, Themes, Game Plans, and FUSE

• Can invite and manage users

Cannot access billing

Cannot transfer ownership

Use this role for senior producers or operations leads.

• Can create and edit Matches, Competitions, Teams, and other Assets

• Can operate the Control Room

• Cannot manage users, billing, or Organisation settings

Gameday Operator

Designed for operators working on match day only.

• Can create Matches

• Can manage Overlays and Graphics

• Can operate the Control Room during a live Match

• Limited access to Organisation-wide settings

This is a good role for freelance or casual operators brought in for specific events.

Live Scorer

A restricted role for people scoring matches from the sideline.

• Can only access the LiveScore App

• Records Match Facts such as goals, cards, and substitutions

• Cannot access the Control Room, Assets, or admin settings

Media Viewer

View-only access for stakeholders who need to see match output but shouldn't edit anything.

• Can view recordings, Highlights, Moments, and Compilations

• Cannot edit Matches, Assets, or graphics

• Cannot operate the Control Room

Useful for coaches, media teams, or sponsors who only need to review footage.

Club Portal Roles

Club Portal roles are scoped to a specific Club only. They do not give access to your main Organisation.

Club Super Admin

• Full control over the Club's portal

• Manages Club Assets, players, and media

• Can manage other Club users

Club Admin

• Can manage most Club settings and Assets

• Cannot manage Club Super Admin users

Club User

• Standard access within the Club Portal

• Can view and contribute to Club content based on what Club Admins allow

How to Assign or Change a Role

1. Go to your Profile area and open the user management section

2. Locate the user you want to update, or click Invite User to add a new person

3. Select the appropriate role from the role dropdown

4. Save your changes

Invited users receive an email to set up their account with the role you assigned.

Tips

• Give new team members the lowest role that still lets them do their job — you can always upgrade later

• Use Gameday Operator rather than User for casual match-day staff to limit their access to Organisation settings

• Assign Live Scorer to volunteers or sideline scorers so they only see the LiveScore App

• Keep the number of Admins small to reduce the risk of accidental changes to live productions

• If a club manages their own content, create a Club Portal and invite their staff as Club Admins instead of giving them Organisation access

Common Issues

A user can't find a Match or Competition they need Check their role. Media Viewers and Live Scorers cannot access the main Organisation interface. They may need to be upgraded to User or Gameday Operator.

A Live Scorer can't open the Control Room This is by design. Live Scorers only have access to the LiveScore App. If they need to operate graphics, change their role to Gameday Operator or User.

A Club Admin can't see another Club's Assets Club Portal roles are scoped to a single Club. To manage multiple Clubs, they need to be invited separately to each Club Portal, or given an Organisation-level role.

Billing settings are hidden for an Admin Only the Owner can access billing. If billing changes are needed, the Owner must make them or transfer ownership.

Can't remove the Owner The Owner must first transfer ownership to another user before being removed from the Organisation.
