Troubleshooting the LiveScore App

Written by Julian Rodrigues
Updated today

The LiveScore App is the mobile app used by Live Scorers to capture Match Facts such as goals, cards, and substitutions during a match, and this guide helps you resolve the most common issues that can interrupt scoring.

Before You Start

Before troubleshooting, confirm the basics:

• You are signed in with a user account that has the Live Scorer role (or higher) in the Organisation.

• The match has already been created in LIGR Live under the correct Competition.

• Both teams are assigned to the match with their player lists.

• Your device has a stable internet connection.

Common Issues

I Can't See My Match in the LiveScore App

If the match you need to score isn't appearing in your match list:

1. Confirm the match exists in LIGR Live by checking the Matches section in the main platform.

2. Check that your user account has been granted access to the Organisation that owns the match.

3. Ensure the match date and time are correct — matches scheduled far in the future may not appear at the top of the list.

4. Pull down on the match list to refresh.

5. Sign out of the LiveScore App and sign back in.

The App Won't Let Me Start the Match

If you can open the match but can't begin scoring:

• Check that both teams have players assigned. A match with empty squads may block scoring.

• Confirm the Competition has a sport type selected.

• Make sure no other Live Scorer has already started the match on another device.

Match Facts Aren't Appearing on the Overlays

If you are recording Match Facts in the LiveScore App but they are not showing on the Scorebug or triggering graphics in the Control Room:

1. Check your internet connection on the scoring device.

2. Confirm the match in the Control Room is the same match you are scoring.

3. Ask the Gameday Operator to verify the Automated Game Plan is active and not set to Manual Mode.

4. Verify the Theme Instance is correctly assigned to the Competition.

The Score Is Wrong or Out of Sync

If the score displayed on the overlay doesn't match what you've entered:

1. Open the match event log in the LiveScore App and review the recorded Match Facts.

2. Edit or delete any incorrect events directly from the log.

3. Wait a few seconds for the Control Room to update.

I Entered the Wrong Player for a Goal or Card

1. Open the event in the match event log.

2. Edit the event and reassign it to the correct player.

3. Save your changes — the overlay will update automatically.

The App Keeps Disconnecting or Freezing

• Close and reopen the LiveScore App.

• Check your mobile signal or Wi-Fi strength.

• Avoid switching away from the app mid-event, as background activity on some devices may interrupt the connection.

• Keep your device plugged in during long matches to prevent battery-saver modes from limiting connectivity.

Substitutions Aren't Triggering the Correct Graphic

• Confirm both the player coming on and the player coming off are selected.

• Check with the Gameday Operator that the substitution graphic is included in the Automated Game Plan or Playlist for the Competition.

Period Changes or Half-Time Isn't Advancing

• Use the period controls in the LiveScore App to end the current period manually.

• Confirm the clock in the Control Room reflects the period change.

Tips

• Always test the LiveScore App with a dummy match before your first live production.

• Keep the scoring device on a dedicated network where possible to reduce disconnections.

• Assign a backup Live Scorer so scoring can continue if the primary device fails.

• Communicate with the Gameday Operator throughout the match so any sync issues can be caught quickly.

• Review the match event log at half-time to catch and correct any mistakes before full time.

When to Contact Support

If you've worked through the steps above and are still having issues, contact LIGR support with:

• The match name and Competition.

• The time the issue occurred.

• A description of what you entered and what appeared (or didn't appear) on the overlay.

• The device and operating system you're using.
