Managing Period Changes and Match Time

Written by Julian Rodrigues

The LiveScore App lets you control match time and move between periods so that your Scorebug and other graphics always reflect the current state of play.

Before You Start

Make sure the following is in place before you open the LiveScore App for a match:

• The Match has been created under the correct Competition

• Both Teams are assigned to the Match

• You are signed in to the LiveScore App with a Live Scorer (or higher) role

• The Match is scheduled for today or is otherwise available in your match list

Starting the Match

Starting the Match begins the clock and tells the Control Room that the first period is underway. This is what drives the time shown on the Scorebug.

1. Open the LiveScore App and tap the Match you want to score.

2. Review the teams, lineups, and any pre-match details.

3. Tap Start Match to begin the first period.

4. Confirm when prompted.

Once started, the match clock begins counting and live Match Facts can be recorded.

Ending a Period

When a period finishes (for example, half-time in football or the end of a quarter), you end the period from the LiveScore App so the clock stops and the correct period graphics can play.

1. On the main scoring screen, tap the period control (for example End Period or End Half).

2. Confirm the action.

3. The clock will pause and the Match will move into a break state.

During the break, the Control Room can trigger any half-time or period-end graphics configured in the Automated Game Plan.

Starting the Next Period

1. When teams are ready to resume, tap Start Next Period.

2. The period indicator will update (for example from 1st Half to 2nd Half, or Q1 to Q2).

3. The match clock resumes according to how the Competition is configured.

Repeat this process for each period in the match.

Ending the Match

1. After the final period has been played, tap End Period to stop the clock.

2. Tap End Match to finalise the match state.

3. Confirm when prompted.

Ending the Match signals that no further Match Facts will be recorded and allows post-match graphics, the Review Page, and any Highlights workflows to proceed.

Adjusting the Match Time

If the clock drifts out of sync with the on-field clock, you can correct it from within the LiveScore App.

1. Open the clock or time control on the scoring screen.

2. Adjust the time to match the official clock.

3. Save the change.

The updated time will flow through to the Scorebug and any time-based graphic triggers.

Tips

• Always end the current period before starting the next one, rather than letting the clock run on into a break.

• Double-check the period indicator before recording Match Facts — events must be logged against the correct period.

• If you need to pause play (for example, for an injury stoppage), use the pause control rather than ending the period.

• Keep the LiveScore App in the foreground during the match to avoid interruptions to the clock sync.

Common Issues

The Scorebug clock doesn't match the LiveScore App Check your device's internet connection. If the connection dropped briefly, adjust the time manually to bring it back in line with the on-field clock.

I ended the period by mistake Start the next period and then adjust the time back to where play actually stopped. Any Match Facts logged in the wrong period may need to be corrected by an Admin.

The match won't start Confirm both Teams are assigned and that the Match exists under the correct Competition. If the Match is missing, ask an Admin or Gameday Operator to check its status.

Period-end graphics didn't play Period-driven graphics rely on the Automated Game Plan. Check with the operator in the Control Room that the Game Plan includes the relevant period triggers.
