Streaming to YouTube Live

Sending your LIGR Live match stream to YouTube Live lets you broadcast your production directly to your YouTube channel as a Destination.

Overview

In LIGR Live, YouTube Live is configured as a Destination on a match's Stream. Once set up, the video feed from your Input (OBS, vMix, or hardware encoder) passes through LIGR with your overlays applied, then out to YouTube.

This guide covers how to add YouTube Live as a Destination for a match.

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure you have:

• A match created in LIGR Live with an Input configured

• A YouTube channel that is enabled for live streaming

• A YouTube Live stream key and RTMP server URL from YouTube Studio

• Owner, Admin, User, or Gameday Operator permissions

Getting Your YouTube Stream Details

You'll need two pieces of information from YouTube before configuring LIGR.

1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.

2. Go to CreateGo Live.

3. Open the Stream tab.

4. Copy the Stream URL (the RTMP server address).

5. Copy the Stream key.

Keep these values handy - you'll paste them into LIGR in the next section.

Adding YouTube Live as a Destination

1. In LIGR Live, open the Matches tab in the left sidebar.

2. Select the match you want to stream.

3. Open the match's Stream View page.

4. Locate the Destinations section of the stream settings.

5. Click to add a new Destination.

6. Choose RTMP as the Destination type (YouTube Live uses RTMP).

7. Paste the YouTube Stream URL into the server field.

8. Paste the YouTube Stream key into the stream key field.

9. Give the Destination a clear name (for example, "YouTube Live").

10. Save the Destination.

Starting the Stream

1. Make sure your encoder is sending video to the match's Input.

2. Confirm the Input is healthy in the Stream View.

3. On YouTube Studio, wait until the preview shows your incoming feed.

4. Start the stream from LIGR so video flows to the YouTube Destination.

5. Click Go Live in YouTube Studio to make the broadcast public.

Monitoring the Stream

Once live, you can monitor the stream in two places:

• The Streaming tab for Multiview across all active streams

• The match's individual Stream View page for detailed health and bitrate

Tips

• Match your encoder's output bitrate to YouTube's recommended settings for your resolution.

• Create the YouTube Live event in YouTube Studio ahead of time so the stream key is ready.

• Use a clear, unique name for each Destination if you're streaming to multiple platforms.

• Test the full path (encoder → LIGR → YouTube) before match day with a short private stream.

• Keep your Production Link open in a separate tab so you can operate overlays in the Control Room while the stream runs.

Common Issues

YouTube is not receiving a feed Check that your encoder is connected to the LIGR Input and that the match's stream has been started. The Destination only receives video once the LIGR stream is active.

"Invalid stream key" error in YouTube Re-copy the Stream key from YouTube Studio and paste it back into the Destination in LIGR. Stream keys can change if you reset them.

Stream works but overlays are missing Confirm the match is using the correct Theme Instance and that your Game Plan or Control Room is running. Overlays are applied by LIGR before video is sent to YouTube.

Low bitrate or dropped frames Check your encoder's upload bandwidth and the Input health in the Stream View. A poor encoder connection will affect the output to YouTube.
