How to Allocate Ad Sets to a Match

Written by Julian Rodrigues

Allocating Ad Sets to a match controls which sponsor and advertising images appear in your graphics and sponsor loops during that specific broadcast.

What Ad Set Allocation Does

Allocation is the process of assigning Ad Sets to a competition, team, club, or individual match. When you allocate an Ad Set to a match, the sponsor images inside it become available to play through in-graphic ad slots and detached ad overlays during the broadcast.

Ad Sets can be allocated at different levels:

Competition level — applies to every match in that competition

Club or Team level — follows that club or team into any match they play

Match level — applies only to the specific match you are configuring

Match-level allocation is useful when you need a one-off sponsor setup that differs from the default competition or team allocation.

Prerequisites

Before you allocate an Ad Set to a match, make sure:

• You have created at least one Ad Set under the Ads tab

• The match has already been created under a competition

• You have Admin, Owner, or Gameday Operator permissions

How to Allocate an Ad Set to a Match

Step 1: Open the Match

1. Click the Matches tab in the left sidebar.

2. Find the match you want to configure in the match list.

3. Click the match to open its settings.

Step 2: Go to the Ads or Allocation Settings

1. Inside the match, navigate to the section that manages ads for this match.

2. You will see any Ad Sets already inherited from the competition, club, or team level.

Step 3: Allocate the Ad Set

1. Click the option to add or allocate an Ad Set.

2. Select the Ad Set you want to apply from the list.

3. Confirm the allocation.

The Ad Set will now be active for this match only and will be available to the Game Plan, sponsor loops, and any in-graphic ad slots during the broadcast.

Step 4: Verify in the Control Room

1. Open the match's Production Link to launch the Control Room.

2. Check that the allocated sponsor images appear in the relevant overlays and sponsor loops.

3. Trigger a test graphic to confirm the ads display as expected.

Tips

• Allocations made at the competition level cascade to all matches inside that competition — only use match-level allocation when you need an override.

• If a sponsor is contracted to a specific club, allocate at the Club level so it automatically follows them across competitions.

• Review your Ad Set contents before allocating — check image dimensions and ordering so the sponsor loop plays in the intended sequence.

• You can allocate multiple Ad Sets to the same match if you need to combine sponsors from different sources.

Common Issues

Ads not appearing during the match

• Confirm the Ad Set is allocated at the correct level.

• Check the Game Plan and Automated Game Plan rules to ensure ad triggers are enabled.

• Make sure the Theme Instance for the match includes ad slots in its graphics.

Wrong sponsors showing

• Check for higher-level allocations (competition, club, team) that may be overriding or stacking with your match-level allocation.

• Remove any inherited Ad Sets you do not want to appear.

Ad Set not available to select

• Confirm the Ad Set has been created and saved under the Ads tab.

• Ensure you have the correct permissions to modify match settings.
