Assigning Ad Sets to a match in LIGR Live ensures sponsor graphics appear at the right moments during your live broadcast, driven by the match's Automated Game Plan.
Which Ad System Applies to You
LIGR Live supports two advertising systems that run in parallel. The one you use depends on the type of Theme assigned to your organisation:
• Ad Allocation (covered in this article): used by organisations on inbuilt themes. Ad Sets are allocated to Competitions, Clubs, or Teams, and rotation is handled by the system.
• Playlist-based ads: used by organisations on Rive themes. Ads are configured directly in Automated Game Plan playlists rather than through allocation.
If your organisation is on Rive themes, see the separate guidance on playlist-based ads. The rest of this article covers Ad Allocation for inbuilt themes.
Before You Start
Before you can assign an Ad Set to a match, make sure you have:
• At least one Ad Set created in the Ads section with all seven required image sizes uploaded
• A Competition set up with a Theme Instance applied on an inbuilt theme
• A Match created under that Competition
• The correct permission level (Owner, Admin, or User)

How Ad Sets Reach a Match
On inbuilt themes, Ad Sets are not attached directly to an individual match. Instead, they are allocated to a Competition, Club, or Team, and then played out during matches through the Automated Game Plan assigned to that Competition's overlay.
This means there are two parts to getting ads into a match:
1. Allocation: deciding which Ad Sets are available to a match
2. Playback configuration: deciding when those ads appear via the Game Plan
Step 1: Allocate Ad Sets to the Competition, Club, or Team
Allocation controls which Ad Sets are eligible to appear in a match.
1. Go to the Ads section from the main navigation.
2. Open the Ad Sets tab.
3. Select the Ad Set you want to assign.
4. Use the allocation options to assign the Ad Set to the relevant Competition, Club, or Team.
5. Save your changes.
Any match played within that Competition (or involving that Club or Team) will now have access to the allocated Ad Set.

Choosing the Right Allocation Level
• Competition allocation: the Ad Set is available to every match in that Competition
• Club allocation: the Ad Set travels with the Club wherever its Teams play
• Team allocation: the Ad Set is tied specifically to that Team's matches
Step 2: Configure the Ad Set in the Automated Game Plan
Once allocated, the Ad Set needs a playlist in the Automated Game Plan to actually appear on screen.
1. Open the Competition and go to its Automated Game Plan.
2. Locate or create a playlist that uses sponsor or ad graphics (for example, a Sponsor Loop during Live gameplay, or an event-triggered playlist).
3. Add the allocated Ad Set to the playlist.
4. Set the trigger (time-based or event-based) for when the ads should play.
5. Set the playlist priority so it fires correctly relative to other playlists. If two playlists share the same priority within a Game Plan, the first built fires.
6. Save the Game Plan.

Remember that a Competition can have multiple overlays, each with its own Theme Instance and Game Plan (configured under Competition > Settings > Streams and Overlays > Overlay Settings). Make sure you are editing the Game Plan on the overlay you intend to use.
Step 3: Confirm the Ad Set Is Working in the Match
Before going live, check that everything is connected correctly.
1. Open the match from the Matches list.
2. Confirm the Ad Set shows as allocated to the match's Competition, Club, or Team.
3. Confirm the relevant playlist in the Automated Game Plan references the Ad Set and has the correct triggers.
4. Run a test match to verify sponsor graphics appear as expected.
Tips
• Upload all seven required image sizes for every Ad Set before allocating. Missing sizes can prevent ads from rendering in certain graphics.
• Use Competition-level allocation for league-wide sponsors and Club-level allocation for club-specific partners.
• Clubs with their own Club Portal can manage and allocate their own Ad Sets if delegation has been enabled.
• Test your Ad Set playback before your first live match.
Common Issues
• Ad Set not appearing in a match: confirm the Ad Set is allocated to the match's Competition, Club, or Team, and that a playlist in the Automated Game Plan references it.
• Only some sponsor graphics display: check that all seven image sizes are uploaded in the Ad Set.
• Ads play at the wrong time: review the triggers and priorities on the sponsor playlist in the Automated Game Plan.
• Club can't see an Ad Set they created: confirm the Club has the correct Club Admin or Club Super Admin permissions and that ad delegation is enabled for that Club.
