What is an Ad Set?

Written by Julian Rodrigues
Updated today

An Ad Set is a collection of sponsor images used to display advertising and sponsorship content during your live broadcasts in LIGR Live.

Overview

Ad Sets are the building blocks of the Ad Allocation advertising system, which is used by organisations on inbuilt themes. Each Ad Set represents a single sponsor and contains all the image sizes needed to show that sponsor across different graphics and placements during a match.

Once created, Ad Sets are allocated to Competitions, Clubs, or Teams, and rotation is handled automatically by the system during broadcasts.

Which Advertising System Applies to You?

LIGR Live supports two advertising systems that run in parallel, and which one you use depends on the type of theme assigned to your organisation:

• If your organisation uses inbuilt themes, you use Ad Allocation. Ad Sets are created here and allocated to Competitions, Clubs, or Teams. This article applies to you.

• If your organisation uses Rive themes, ads are configured directly within Automated Game Plan playlists rather than through Ad Sets. In that case, refer to the playlist-based ads documentation instead.

If you are unsure which theme type your organisation is on, check the Theme Instance assigned to your Competition (under Competition, Settings, Streams and Overlays, Overlay Settings).

What an Ad Set Contains

An Ad Set is made up of seven differently sized images for a single sponsor. All seven sizes must be uploaded before the Ad Set can be used in a broadcast.

Each Ad Set typically includes:

• A sponsor name and identifying details

• Seven image assets in the required dimensions

• Allocation settings that determine where the Ad Set can appear

Why Ad Sets Matter

Ad Sets give you a single, reusable source of sponsor content that can be plugged into different parts of your broadcast. Instead of uploading sponsor images each time, you build the Ad Set once and then:

• Allocate it to a Competition, Club, or Team

• Have it rotated automatically across graphics and placements during matches on inbuilt themes

How to Create an Ad Set

1. Go to the Ads section in the main navigation.

2. Open the Ad Sets tab.

3. Click the option to create a new Ad Set.

4. Enter the sponsor name and any required details.

5. Upload all seven required image sizes.

6. Save the Ad Set.

7. Allocate the Ad Set to the relevant Competition, Club, or Team.

Tips

• Prepare all seven image sizes before you start creating the Ad Set to avoid having to return to it later.

• Use consistent sponsor naming so Ad Sets are easy to find when allocating them.

• Review your allocations carefully. An Ad Set will only appear in broadcasts it has been allocated to.

• Check the Analytics tab in the Ads section to monitor how your Ad Sets are performing.

Common Issues

• Ad Set not appearing in a match: Confirm the Ad Set has been allocated to the correct Competition, Club, or Team, and that the match is running on an inbuilt theme that uses Ad Allocation.

• Cannot save an Ad Set: All seven image sizes must be uploaded. Missing any size will prevent the Ad Set from being usable.

• Wrong sponsor showing: Check your allocation settings. An Ad Set allocated at the Competition level will apply to all matches in that Competition unless overridden at the Club or Team level.

• No Ad Sets visible where expected: Confirm your Competition is using an inbuilt theme. Competitions on Rive themes handle ads through Automated Game Plan playlists rather than Ad Sets.
