How to Allocate Ad Sets to Competitions

Written by Julian Rodrigues

Allocating an Ad Set to a Competition tells LIGR Live which sponsor or advertising images should appear during matches in that Competition.

Which Ad System Applies to You

LIGR Live supports two advertising systems that run in parallel. The right one for you depends on the type of Theme your Organisation has been assigned:

• Ad Allocation (this article): used by organisations on inbuilt themes. Ad Sets are allocated to Competitions, Clubs, or Teams, and rotation is handled by the system.

• Playlist-based ads: used by organisations on Rive themes. Ads are configured directly inside Automated Game Plan playlists rather than through allocation.

If your Organisation is on Rive themes, you do not need to allocate Ad Sets; ads are added to playlists instead. The steps below apply to organisations using inbuilt themes.

What Allocation Means

Allocation is the process of assigning an Ad Set to a Competition, Team, or Club so that the images inside that Ad Set can be used by graphics and sponsor loops during a broadcast. Without an allocation, your Ad Set exists in your Organisation but will not appear in any match.

When you allocate an Ad Set to a Competition:

• Every match within that Competition can use the images in the Ad Set

• The ads become available to overlays and sponsor loops tied to that Competition's Theme Instance

• You only need to allocate once per Competition, not per match

Before You Start

Make sure you have:

• Confirmed your Competition is using an inbuilt theme (Ad Allocation does not apply to Rive themes)

• Created the Competition you want to allocate ads to

• Created the Ad Set you want to allocate, with images uploaded

• Admin or Owner access to your Organisation

How to Allocate an Ad Set to a Competition

1. Open your LIGR Live Organisation and go to the Ads section.

2. Find the Ad Set you want to allocate from the list.

3. Open the Ad Set to view its details and images.

4. Select the Allocation option for that Ad Set.

5. Choose Competition as the allocation type.

6. Select the Competition (or Competitions) you want this Ad Set to apply to.

7. Save your allocation.

Once saved, the Ad Set is live for that Competition and will be pulled into any graphics or sponsor loops configured to use ads.

Managing Existing Allocations

You can review and change allocations at any time:

• Open the Ad Set to see which Competitions, Clubs, or Teams it is currently allocated to

• Add additional Competitions to broaden where the Ad Set is used

• Remove a Competition to stop the Ad Set from appearing in its matches

Changes take effect on new matches and on the next graphic trigger in active matches.

Tips

• Keep Ad Sets focused: create separate Ad Sets for different sponsor tiers or campaigns, then allocate the right one to each Competition.

• If the same sponsors run across multiple Competitions, you can allocate a single Ad Set to all of them instead of duplicating images.

• For sponsor loops between graphic events, make sure the Theme Instance on your Competition's overlay is configured to use the allocated Ad Set.

• Use Club or Team allocation instead of Competition allocation when an ad only belongs to one participant (for example, a club-specific sponsor).

Common Issues

Ads are not appearing in a match

• Confirm the Ad Set is allocated to the correct Competition

• Check that the match belongs to that Competition

• Confirm the Competition is using an inbuilt theme; Rive themes use playlist-based ads instead of allocations

• Make sure the Theme Instance and Game Plan for the match include ad triggers or a sponsor loop

Wrong ads are showing

• Check whether another Ad Set is also allocated to the Competition, Club, or Team

• Review allocations at Club and Team level, as these can combine with Competition-level allocations

Cannot see the Allocation option

• Confirm you have Admin or Owner permissions on your Organisation

• Live Scorer and Media Viewer roles cannot manage allocations
