Setting up Match Lineups

Written by Julian Rodrigues
Updated today

Match Lineups let you define which Players from each Team are starting, on the bench, or unavailable for a specific Match, so this information appears correctly in your broadcast graphics and is available to scorers in the LiveScore App.

Before You Start

Before setting up lineups, make sure you have:

• Created the Competition the Match sits under

• Created both Clubs and their Teams

• Added Players to each Team's roster in the Assets section

• Created the Match itself with both Teams assigned

If Players are missing from a Team, you'll need to add them in the Assets tab before they can be selected in a lineup.

Accessing the Lineups for a Match

1. Click the Matches tab in the left sidebar.

2. Find the Match you want to update and open it.

3. Navigate to the Lineups section within the Match settings.

4. You'll see two panels, one for each Team in the Match.

Building a Team Lineup

Each Team's lineup is built from the Players already assigned to that Team in the Assets section.

1. Select the Team panel you want to edit.

2. Choose which Players are in the Starting lineup.

3. Assign Players to the Bench (substitutes).

4. Leave unavailable Players out of both groups, or mark them as unavailable if that option is shown.

5. Set shirt numbers for each Player if they aren't already saved on the Player profile.

6. Assign roles such as Captain or Goalkeeper where applicable to the sport.

Editing Player Details

If a Player's name, shirt number, or position needs updating:

• Minor Match-specific changes can be made in the lineup itself

• Permanent changes to a Player's details should be made in the Assets tab under that Player's profile

Saving and Syncing Lineups

Once both Team lineups are complete:

1. Save the lineup for each Team.

2. The lineup will be available to the LiveScore App for scorers to record Match Facts against specific Players.

3. Lineup data will also feed into any Graphics that display starting lineups, substitutions, or Player-specific overlays during the broadcast.

Tips

• Set lineups well before the Match starts so your Live Scorer and Gameday Operator have the correct data ready.

• Double-check shirt numbers match what Players are actually wearing — these appear in Scorebugs and lower third Graphics.

• If you're using an Automated Game Plan that triggers lineup cards pre-Match, incomplete lineups may cause Graphics to display blank fields.

• Assign the Captain and Goalkeeper correctly if your Theme Instance uses these roles in Graphics.

Common Issues

A Player isn't showing up in the lineup selector The Player isn't assigned to that Team in the Assets tab. Go to Assets, open the Team, and add the Player to the roster.

Shirt numbers aren't appearing on Graphics Check the shirt number field is filled in either on the Player profile or in the lineup itself. Blank values won't render.

Substitutions in the LiveScore App won't save Both a starting lineup and a bench must be set for substitutions to be recorded against specific Players.

Lineup changes aren't reflecting in the Control Room Refresh the Control Room after saving lineup changes, or ask the Gameday Operator to reload the Production Link.
