How to Enable Manual Mode for a Match

Written by Julian Rodrigues
Updated today

Manual Mode lets you take full control of a match by triggering every graphic yourself from the Control Room, instead of relying on an Automated Game Plan to play overlays based on match events.

When to Use Manual Mode

Manual Mode is useful when you want complete control over what appears on screen and when. You might choose Manual Mode if:

• You are broadcasting a sport or match format that doesn't suit your Automated Game Plan

• You want to trigger scorebugs, lower thirds, and playlists at your own timing

• You are running a match without a Live Scorer using the LiveScore App

• You need to override automation for a specific broadcast

In Manual Mode, no graphics will be triggered automatically by match events. Every overlay must be played by an operator in the Control Room.

Prerequisites

Before you enable Manual Mode, make sure you have:

• A Competition set up with an assigned Theme Instance

• A Match created under that Competition

• At least one user with Gameday Operator, Admin, or Owner access to run the Control Room

Enabling Manual Mode on a Match

1. Click the Matches tab in the left sidebar.

2. Find the match you want to update and open it.

3. Go to the match settings area.

4. Locate the Game Plan or automation setting for the match.

5. Switch the match from an Automated Game Plan to Manual Mode.

6. Save your changes.

Once Manual Mode is enabled, the match is ready to be operated entirely from the Control Room.

Operating a Match in Manual Mode

1. Open the Match and click the Production Link to launch the Control Room.

2. Use the Control Room interface to trigger individual Graphics, Scorebugs, and Playlists as needed during the match.

3. Play sponsor content manually via your Sponsor Loop or Ad Set graphics.

4. End each graphic manually when you want it removed from the stream.

Tips

• You can still use the LiveScore App alongside Manual Mode to capture Match Facts for post-match stats and the Review Page, even if those events don't trigger graphics automatically.

• Prepare your graphic order before kickoff so you can trigger them quickly during live play.

• Use the Monitoring Link to let other team members watch the output without giving them control access.

• If you only want to override automation for part of a match, consider whether an Automated Game Plan with adjusted priorities might suit you better.

Common Issues

Graphics are still playing automatically after switching to Manual Mode Refresh the Control Room in your browser after saving the match setting. The Control Room needs to reload to pick up the new mode.

I can't find the Manual Mode option Check that your user role has permission to edit match settings. Live Scorer and Media Viewer roles cannot change match configuration.

Scorebug isn't updating during the match In Manual Mode, the scorebug still reflects score data from the LiveScore App or manual score inputs, but you must trigger the scorebug graphic yourself to show it on stream.
