Manual Mode vs Automated Game Plans

LIGR Live gives you two ways to run graphics during a match: Manual Mode, where an operator triggers every graphic by hand, or an Automated Game Plan, where graphics and playlists play automatically based on match events.

This guide explains how each mode works, when to use them, and how to switch between them in the Control Room.

Prerequisites

Before choosing a mode, make sure you have:

• A Competition with a Theme Instance assigned

• A Match created under that Competition

• Two Teams assigned to the Match

• Access to the Control Room via the Production Link

What is Manual Mode?

Manual Mode puts the operator in full control of every Graphic shown on the stream. Nothing plays unless you click it.

In Manual Mode, the Control Room operator is responsible for:

• Triggering the Scorebug on and off

• Playing lower thirds, lineups, and full-screen Graphics

• Running sponsor Graphics and Sponsor Loops

• Updating scores and match events manually if no Live Scorer is connected

Manual Mode is best suited to:

• Smaller productions with a dedicated operator

• Matches without a Live Scorer using the LiveScore App

• Broadcasts where timing needs to be fully controlled by a human

• Testing Graphics and Themes before a match goes live

What is an Automated Game Plan?

An Automated Game Plan is a set of rules that plays Graphics and Playlists automatically in response to Match Facts recorded in the LiveScore App or other match events.

With an Automated Game Plan, the system handles:

• Pre-game Playlists (lineups, head-to-head, sponsors)

• The Scorebug appearing at kick-off and hiding at breaks

• Event-driven Graphics such as goal celebrations and card notifications

• Post-game Playlists (final score, player of the match, sponsors)

• Sponsor Loops running between match events

Automated Game Plans are best suited to:

• Productions running at scale across many matches

• Broadcasts where a Live Scorer is capturing Match Facts in real time

• Teams that want consistent graphics output across a Competition

• Reducing operator workload during the match

Choosing the Right Mode

Use this as a quick guide when deciding:

Manual Mode — Full operator control, no Live Scorer required, flexible timing

Automated Game Plan — Minimal operator input, requires a Live Scorer capturing Match Facts, consistent output

You can still trigger Graphics manually inside the Control Room when an Automated Game Plan is active, which gives you a hybrid approach.

How to Run a Match in Manual Mode

1. Open the Match from your Competition.

2. Click the Production Link to launch the Control Room.

3. In the Control Room, confirm no Automated Game Plan is assigned, or disable automation for the Match.

4. Use the Graphics panel to trigger each Overlay as needed.

5. Update score and events using the manual controls if no LiveScore App is connected.

How to Run a Match with an Automated Game Plan

1. Assign an Automated Game Plan to the Competition or Match.

2. Have your Live Scorer open the LiveScore App for the Match.

3. Open the Control Room via the Production Link.

4. Confirm the Game Plan is active in the Control Room.

5. Start the Match from the LiveScore App — pre-game Playlists will begin automatically.

6. Monitor the output and use manual triggers only when you need to override or add extra Graphics.

Tips

• Test your Automated Game Plan on a practice Match before going live.

• Keep the Control Room open even when running an Automated Game Plan so you can override if something unexpected happens.

• Use a Monitoring Link to let directors or producers watch the output without risking accidental clicks.

• If your Live Scorer is new, run Manual Mode until they are confident with the LiveScore App.

Common Issues

Graphics not triggering automatically — Check that the Live Scorer is recording Match Facts in the LiveScore App and that the Automated Game Plan is assigned to the Match.

Scorebug not appearing — Confirm the Theme Instance is set on the Competition and the Match has started in the LiveScore App.

Wrong Graphics playing — Review the Automated Game Plan rules to check priorities and event triggers.

Operator triggers conflict with automation — When running a Game Plan, avoid triggering the same Graphic manually at the same time as an automated event.
