Setting up Match Overlay Settings

Written by Julian Rodrigues
Updated today

Match Overlay Settings let you configure how graphics, scorebugs, and automated elements behave for a specific match in LIGR Live.

Overview

Every match in LIGR Live has its own Overlay Settings that control the look and behaviour of the graphics shown during the broadcast. These settings build on what you've configured at the Competition and Theme Instance level, but allow you to customise things for an individual match.

You'll use Match Overlay Settings when you need to:

• Confirm the Theme Instance applied to the match

• Choose between Manual Mode and an Automated Game Plan

• Adjust scorebug behaviour and visibility

• Allocate ad sets or sponsor loops

• Review which graphics and playlists will be available in the Control Room

Prerequisites

Before you configure Match Overlay Settings, make sure you have:

• Created the Competition the match belongs to

• Set up a Theme Instance for that Competition

• Created both Teams taking part in the match

• Created the Match itself under the Competition

Accessing Match Overlay Settings

1. Click the Matches tab in the left sidebar.

2. Find the match you want to configure and open it.

3. Select the Overlay Settings tab on the match page.

You'll see the settings grouped into sections covering Theme, Game Plan, Scorebug, and Ads.

Configuring the Theme Instance

The Theme Instance controls the visual style of every graphic shown during the match.

1. Under the Theme section, confirm the Theme Instance assigned to the match.

2. If a different Theme Instance is available for the Competition, select it from the dropdown.

3. Save your changes.

Tips for Themes

• Theme Instances are defined at the Competition level, so a match will inherit the Competition's default unless you change it.

• If your Theme Instance was built in FUSE, any Control Variables will be adjustable live from the Control Room.

Choosing Manual Mode or an Automated Game Plan

Match Overlay Settings let you decide how graphics are triggered during the broadcast.

Automated Game Plan — Graphics and playlists play automatically based on match events recorded in the LiveScore App (for example, goals, cards, or period changes).

Manual Mode — All graphics are triggered by a Gameday Operator from the Control Room.

1. Locate the Game Plan section of Overlay Settings.

2. Select either an Automated Game Plan or Manual Mode.

3. If choosing an Automated Game Plan, pick the specific Game Plan from the dropdown.

Scorebug Settings

The Scorebug is the persistent graphic that shows the live score, match time, and team information.

Common scorebug options include:

• Enabling or disabling the scorebug for the match

• Choosing which variant of the scorebug to display (if your Theme Instance includes multiple)

• Setting the default visibility when the match goes live

Ad Sets and Sponsor Loops

You can allocate sponsor content to the match through Overlay Settings.

1. Scroll to the Ads section.

2. Confirm the Ad Set allocated to the match (this may be inherited from the Competition, Club, or Team).

3. If a Sponsor Loop is configured, review which sponsor images are included and how often they'll rotate.

Saving and Testing Your Settings

1. Click Save after making changes to each section.

2. Open the Production Link to launch the Control Room for the match.

3. Use the Monitoring Link on a separate screen to preview how the overlays will appear on the stream without triggering any graphics.

Tips

• Configure Overlay Settings well before kickoff so you can test the output through the Monitoring Link.

• If you're new to LIGR Live, start in Manual Mode to get comfortable with the Control Room before switching to an Automated Game Plan.

• Any changes to the Theme Instance at the Competition level will flow through to matches unless you've set match-specific overrides.

• Use the LiveScore App in a test session to confirm your Automated Game Plan triggers the correct graphics.

Common Issues

Graphics not appearing on the stream: Check that the Theme Instance is assigned and that the correct Game Plan is selected.

Scorebug showing wrong team colours or logos: Confirm the Clubs and Teams assigned to the match have the correct logos and colours set in the Assets tab.

Ads not rotating: Verify the Ad Set is allocated to the match, Competition, Club, or Team, and that the Sponsor Loop is enabled.

Automated Game Plan not triggering graphics: Ensure a Live Scorer is recording Match Facts in the LiveScore App and that the Game Plan's event triggers are configured correctly.
