Match Creation Prerequisites

Written by Julian Rodrigues

Before you can create a Match in LIGR Live, you need to have the right Assets in place so the Match has a Competition to sit within, Teams to play in it, and a Venue to host it.

What You Need Before Creating a Match

A Match in LIGR Live pulls data from the Assets you've already built. If those Assets don't exist yet, you won't be able to complete Match creation. At a minimum, you need:

• One Competition

• Two Teams (each belonging to a Club)

• One Venue (recommended)

• A Theme Instance assigned to the Competition

Players on each Team roster (recommended for lineup graphics)

Required Assets

Competition

Every Match must be created under a Competition. The Competition controls:

• Which Theme Instance is used for the Match graphics

• Default Match settings

• Ad Set allocation

• Data Coverage level

If you haven't created a Competition yet, you'll need to do that first in the Assets tab.

Teams and Clubs

A Match needs exactly two Teams. In LIGR Live, Teams belong to Clubs, so you'll need to:

1. Create a Club (with its logo, colours, and home Venue)

2. Create one or more Teams under that Club

3. Assign each Team to the relevant Competition

Both Teams in your Match must be assigned to the same Competition.

Players

Players aren't strictly required to create a Match, but they are needed for:

• Lineup cards and team sheet graphics

• Player-specific overlays (goal scorers, cards, substitutions)

• Match Facts captured in the LiveScore App

• Accurate Match Centre and Review Page data

Add Players to each Team roster before Match day.

Venue

A Venue gives your Match a physical location that can appear in pre-match graphics and Match Centre data. Create your Venue in the Assets tab and assign it when creating the Match.

Recommended Setup

Theme Instance

A Theme Instance must be assigned to the Competition before Match graphics will display correctly. Without it, the Control Room won't have a visual template to pull from.

Ad Sets

If you want sponsor graphics or a Sponsor Loop during the Match, allocate an Ad Set to the Competition, Club, or Team ahead of time.

Game Plan

For automated graphics during the Match, set up an Automated Game Plan on the Competition. If you prefer to trigger every Graphic yourself, you can use Manual Mode instead.

Prerequisite Checklist

Run through this list before heading to the Matches tab:

Tips

• Build your Assets in this order: Venues → Clubs → Teams → Players → Competitions. This avoids backtracking when linking them together.

• If you run multiple Competitions with the same Teams, you only need to create each Team once — just assign them to each relevant Competition.

• Double-check Club logos and colours before Match day. These feed directly into your Scorebug and other Overlays.

• If you're using the LiveScore App, make sure Players are on the roster so the scorer can tag Match Facts to the right people.

Common Issues

"I can't select my Team when creating a Match." The Team isn't assigned to the Competition you chose. Go to the Team's settings in the Assets tab and add the Competition.

"My Match graphics look unstyled or broken." The Competition likely doesn't have a Theme Instance assigned. Assign one before opening the Control Room.

"Player names aren't appearing in lineup graphics." Players haven't been added to the Team roster, or they haven't been selected in the Match lineup. Check both the Team's Player list and the Match setup.

"I can't find my Venue in the dropdown." The Venue hasn't been created yet in the Assets tab, or it was saved under a different Organisation.
