Assigning a Gameday Operator to a Match

Written by Julian Rodrigues

Assigning a Gameday Operator to a Match gives a specific user permission to run the Control Room, manage overlays, and operate graphics for that Match in LIGR Live.

Who Can Be Assigned

A Gameday Operator is a user role with access to create matches, manage overlays, and operate the Control Room. Before you can assign someone, they must already exist as a user within your Organisation with the Gameday Operator role (or a higher role such as Admin or Owner).

Roles that can operate a Match

Owner — full access, can always operate any Match

Admin — can operate any Match

User — standard production access

Gameday Operator — can be assigned to specific Matches to run the Control Room

Prerequisites

Before assigning a Gameday Operator, make sure you have:

• Created the Match under a Competition

• Added the user to your Organisation with the Gameday Operator role

• Confirmed the user has accepted their invitation and can log in

Adding a User as a Gameday Operator

If the person you want to assign is not yet in your Organisation, add them first.

1. Go to your Organisation settings.

2. Open the Users section.

3. Click Invite User (or the equivalent add-user option).

4. Enter their email address.

5. Set their role to Gameday Operator.

6. Send the invitation.

Assigning the Gameday Operator to a Match

Once the user exists in your Organisation, you can assign them to a specific Match.

1. Open the Matches tab.

2. Select the Match you want to assign an operator to.

3. Open the Match settings or details page.

4. Locate the Gameday Operator field or assignment section.

5. Select the user from the list of available operators.

6. Save your changes.

Sharing Access with the Operator

Once assigned, the Gameday Operator can access the Match through:

Production Link — opens the Control Room for live operation of overlays and graphics

Monitoring Link — opens a view-only monitoring view of the graphics output

Share the Production Link with your assigned Gameday Operator so they can open the Control Room at match time.

Tips

• Assign your Gameday Operator well before kickoff so they have time to test the Control Room and confirm graphics are working.

• A Gameday Operator only needs access to the specific Matches they are running, not your whole Organisation's settings.

• If the same person runs multiple Matches, they can be assigned to each one individually.

• For fully automated broadcasts, pair the Gameday Operator with an Automated Game Plan so most graphics trigger from Match Facts without manual input.

Common Issues

The user does not appear in the assignment list

Make sure the user has been added to your Organisation and has the Gameday Operator role (or higher). They may also need to accept their email invitation before appearing.

The Gameday Operator cannot open the Control Room

Confirm they are using the Production Link, not the Monitoring Link. The Monitoring Link is view-only and does not allow control of overlays.

The operator cannot see the Match in their account

Check that the Match has been saved with the operator assigned. If they were added after the Match was created, re-open the Match settings and confirm the assignment is saved.

The operator can view but not trigger graphics

This usually means they were given the Media Viewer role instead of Gameday Operator. Update their role in the Users section of your Organisation settings.
