Assigning Teams to a Match

Written by Julian Rodrigues

Assigning teams to a match in LIGR Live sets which two teams will appear in your broadcast graphics, scorebug, and match data throughout the production.

Before You Start

Before you can assign teams to a match, make sure you have the following set up in the Assets tab:

• At least one Competition created

• At least two Teams created (either standalone or under a Club)

• Teams assigned to the competition the match will be played in

If any of these are missing, you will not be able to select teams when creating the match.

How Team Assignment Works

When you create a match in LIGR Live, you assign one Home Team and one Away Team. These teams must belong to the competition the match is being created under. Once assigned, the teams' names, logos, and colours automatically flow into your overlays, scorebug, and other graphics.

Assigning Teams During Match Creation

1. Go to the Matches section and start creating a new match.

2. Select the Competition the match will be played in.

3. In the Home Team field, choose a team from the dropdown. Only teams assigned to the selected competition will appear.

4. In the Away Team field, choose the opposing team from the dropdown.

5. Complete the remaining match details (venue, kickoff time, etc.).

6. Save the match.

Changing Teams on an Existing Match

If you need to update the teams on a match that has already been created:

1. Open the match from the Matches list.

2. Edit the match details.

3. Update the Home Team or Away Team selection.

4. Save your changes.

Note: Changing teams after a match has started or after match events have been recorded may affect live graphics and match data.

Tips

• Make sure each team has its logo and colours set up in the Assets tab before assigning, so your graphics display correctly.

• If a team is missing from the dropdown, check that it has been assigned to the correct competition.

• Confirm the Home and Away selection carefully — this controls which side each team appears on in the scorebug and other overlays.

Common Issues

A team does not appear in the dropdown The team has not been assigned to the selected competition. Go to the Assets tab, open the team, and add it to the competition.

Team logo or colours are missing in graphics The team asset is incomplete. Open the team in the Assets tab and upload a logo and set the team colours.
