How to Create a Team

Creating a Team in LIGR Live allows you to define a squad that can be assigned to Competitions and Matches, complete with its own logo, colours, and player roster.

Before You Start

Before creating a Team, make sure you have:

• A Club already created in your Organisation (Teams belong to a Club)

• Your team's logo and brand colours ready to upload

• A list of players you'd like to add (optional — players can be added later)

If you haven't created a Club yet, you'll need to do that first, as every Team must be linked to a parent Club.

Creating a New Team

Follow these steps to add a Team to your Organisation.

Step 1: Navigate to the Teams Section

1. From your LIGR Live dashboard, open the Assets menu.

2. Select Teams from the list of asset types.

Step 2: Start a New Team

1. Click the Create Team button, usually found in the top-right corner of the Teams page.

2. A form will open where you can enter your Team's details.

Step 3: Fill in the Team Details

Enter the following information:

Team Name — the full name of the Team as it should appear in graphics

Short Name / Abbreviation — used in Scorebugs and compact graphics

Club — select the parent Club this Team belongs to

Team Logo — upload the Team's logo (transparent PNG recommended)

Primary Colour and Secondary Colour — used by Themes to style graphics

Venue — the Team's home Venue (optional)

Step 4: Save the Team

Once you've filled in the details, click Save to create the Team. It will now appear in your Teams list and be available to assign to Competitions and Matches.

Adding Players to Your Team

After creating the Team, you can build out its roster.

1. Open the Team you just created from the Teams list.

2. Go to the Players tab within the Team's profile.

3. Click Add Player to create a new Player, or select existing Players from your Organisation.

4. Enter player details such as name, jersey number, and position.

Assigning a Team to a Competition

A Team needs to be assigned to a Competition before it can be used in a Match.

1. Open the relevant Competition from the Competitions section under Assets.

2. Go to the Teams tab within the Competition.

3. Click Add Team and select your newly created Team.

Tips

• Use a transparent PNG for Team logos to ensure they display cleanly over any background in overlays.

• Make sure Primary and Secondary Colours are distinct — Themes often use both to differentiate home and away Teams in Scorebugs.

• Keep your Short Name to 3–4 characters so it fits neatly in compact graphics.

• If your Team plays in multiple Competitions, you only need to create it once and assign it to each Competition.

Common Issues

The Team isn't appearing in my Match setup. Check that the Team has been added to the Competition the Match is being created under. Teams must be assigned at the Competition level first.

My Team logo looks stretched or pixelated. Upload a high-resolution, square-format image (ideally at least 500x500 pixels) with a transparent background.

I can't find the Club I want to link the Team to. The Club must exist in your Organisation before creating the Team. Go to Assets > Clubs and create the Club first.

Team colours aren't showing in graphics. Theme Instances may override Team colours depending on how they're configured. Check your Theme Instance settings for the Competition.
