What is a Club?

Written by Julian Rodrigues

In LIGR Live, a Club is an Asset that represents a sports club and acts as the parent entity for one or more Teams, along with their associated branding, venues, and media.

Understanding Clubs in LIGR Live

A Club is one of the core Assets you'll create in your Organisation. Think of it as the "home" for everything related to a sports club — its identity, its Teams, and the Players who belong to those Teams.

Clubs are especially useful when a single club fields multiple Teams across different Competitions (for example, a senior men's Team, a senior women's Team, and a reserves Team all belonging to the same Club).

What a Club Contains

A Club in LIGR Live typically holds the following information:

Club name — the official name of the club

Club logo — used across Overlays, Scorebugs, and other Graphics

Club colours — primary and secondary colours applied to Graphics

Venue — the default home Venue associated with the Club

Teams — one or more Teams that belong to the Club

Players — rostered across the Club's Teams

How Clubs Relate to Other Assets

Clubs sit above Teams in the LIGR Live Asset hierarchy:

• A Club contains one or more Teams

• A Team is assigned to a Competition and to Matches

Players are associated with Teams within the Club

• A Venue can be set as the Club's home ground

This structure means that when you update a Club's logo or colours, those changes flow through to every Team under that Club, saving you from updating each Team individually.

When to Create a Club

You should create a Club whenever:

• A sports organisation fields more than one Team

• You want to centralise branding (logos, colours) across multiple Teams

• You plan to delegate access through a Club Portal to Club Admins, Club Super Admins, or Club Users

• You want to allocate specific Ad Sets at the Club level

Clubs and the Club Portal

Clubs can also be given their own Club Portal — a separate interface where club staff can manage their own Players, media, and Assets without needing access to the full Organisation. Permissions in the Club Portal are scoped through the Club Admin, Club Super Admin, and Club User roles.

Tips

• Set up your Clubs before creating Teams so you can assign Teams to the correct Club from the start.

• Use high-resolution transparent PNGs for Club logos so they display cleanly on Overlays and Scorebugs.

• Keep Club colours accurate to the brand — Themes and Theme Instances often pull these colours into Graphics automatically.

• If a Club has a regular home ground, assign the Venue at the Club level to save time when creating Matches.

Common Issues

Team branding looks wrong on Overlays — Check that the Club's logo and colours are set correctly, as Teams often inherit these from the parent Club.

Can't find a Team when creating a Match — Make sure the Team has been created under the correct Club and assigned to the relevant Competition.

Club Portal users can't see expected Assets — Confirm their role (Club Admin, Club Super Admin, or Club User) has the correct permissions for the Club they're scoped to.
