How to Create a Match

Written by Julian Rodrigues

Creating a Match in LIGR Live sets up a single fixture between two teams, ready for live broadcast with graphics, streaming, and scoring.

Before You Start

Before you can create a Match, you need to have the following Assets already set up in your Organisation:

• At least one Competition

• At least two Teams (assigned to that Competition)

• A Venue (optional but recommended)

• A Theme Instance assigned to the Competition

If you haven't set these up yet, head to the Assets tab first and create them. A Match cannot exist without a Competition and two Teams.

Creating a New Match

Follow these steps to create a Match from scratch.

1. Click the Matches tab in the left sidebar.

2. Click the Create Match button (usually at the top right of the Matches page).

3. Select the Competition the Match belongs to.

4. Choose the Home Team and Away Team from the dropdowns. Only Teams assigned to the selected Competition will appear.

5. Set the Match date and time.

6. Select the Venue where the Match will be played.

7. Confirm the Theme Instance — this is usually inherited from the Competition but can be adjusted per Match.

8. Save the Match.

Once saved, the Match will appear in your Matches list and is ready to be configured further.

What to Configure After Creating a Match

Creating the Match is only the first step. Before going live, you'll typically want to review and configure:

Overlay settings — confirm which Scorebugs and Graphics are active

Game Plan — set up an Automated Game Plan or switch to Manual Mode

Stream settings — connect your Input (from OBS, vMix, or another encoder) and set Destinations

Ad Sets — confirm which sponsor Allocations apply to this Match

Production Link and Monitoring Link — share these with your operators and monitoring crew

Tips

• Create your Competition first, then your Teams, then your Match. Working in this order avoids missing dropdown options.

• If a Team isn't appearing in the Home or Away Team dropdown, check that it has been assigned to the correct Competition under the Assets tab.

• Double-check the Match date and time — this affects when the Match appears as upcoming, live, or completed.

• If you're running a recurring fixture, you can duplicate existing Matches rather than creating each one from scratch (where available).

Common Issues

No Teams appearing in the dropdown: The Teams haven't been assigned to the selected Competition. Go to the Competition in the Assets tab and add the Teams.

No Competitions available: You need to create at least one Competition in the Assets tab before any Match can be created.

Wrong Theme Instance showing: Check the Theme Instance assigned at the Competition level, as Matches inherit this by default.

Venue missing: Venues are optional on some setups but recommended. Add the Venue under Assets if it doesn't appear in the dropdown.
