Understanding Match Settings

Written by Julian Rodrigues

Match Settings in LIGR Live let you configure how an individual match is set up, scored, streamed, and displayed — from the teams playing to the graphics theme and data coverage level.

What Match Settings Control

Match Settings bring together all the information LIGR needs to run a broadcast. Before a match goes live, these settings determine which Assets are used, how the Control Room behaves, and what appears in your Overlays.

Match Settings typically cover:

• The Competition the match belongs to

• The two Teams playing

• The Venue where the match takes place

• Kick-off date and time

• The Theme Instance applied to graphics

• Data Coverage level

• Stream and Overlay configuration

• Game Plan selection (Automated Game Plan or Manual Mode)

Prerequisites

Before configuring Match Settings, make sure you have:

• At least one Competition created

• Two Teams assigned to that Competition

• A Venue (optional but recommended)

• A Theme Instance assigned to the Competition

If any of these are missing, create them in the Assets tab first.

Accessing Match Settings

1. Click the Matches tab in the left sidebar.

2. Select an existing match from the list, or click to create a new one.

3. Open the match to view its settings page.

Core Match Details

Competition

Every match must belong to a Competition. The Competition determines the default Theme Instance, graphics behaviour, and available Teams.

Teams

Select the home and away Teams. Only Teams assigned to the chosen Competition will appear in the dropdown.

Venue

Choose the Venue where the match is being played. The Venue can appear in pre-match graphics and the Match Centre.

Date and Time

Set the kick-off date and time. This affects when the match appears as "upcoming" or "live" across LIGR.

Graphics and Theme

The Theme Instance applied to the match controls the visual style of every Overlay, Scorebug, and Graphic used during the broadcast. By default, matches inherit the Theme Instance from their Competition, but you can review this in Match Settings.

Data Coverage

Data Coverage defines how much statistical detail is tracked for the match. Levels range from Minimum to Standard, and your selection affects:

• Which Match Facts the LiveScore App captures

• What stats appear on the Review Page and Match Centre

• Which Graphics can pull live data

Choose the level that matches how much detail your scorer will track.

Game Plan and Operating Mode

Within Match Settings you choose how graphics will be triggered during the match:

Automated Game Plan — Graphics and Playlists play automatically based on match events.

Manual Mode — All Graphics are triggered by an operator in the Control Room.

Pick the option that suits your production style and crew size.

Stream and Overlay Configuration

Match Settings is also where you link the match to its streaming setup, including:

• The Input receiving video from your encoder

• The Destination where the stream is sent

• The Overlays to be used in the Control Room

Links such as the Production Link and Monitoring Link are generated from the match once settings are saved.

Tips

• Set up your Competition's Theme Instance correctly before creating matches — matches inherit it automatically.

• Double-check the Teams and Venue before the match goes live; changes mid-broadcast can affect live Graphics.

• If you're running a small crew, use an Automated Game Plan to reduce manual work in the Control Room.

• Share the Monitoring Link with stakeholders who need to watch the output without Control Room access.

Common Issues

Teams not appearing in the dropdown: The Teams are not yet assigned to the selected Competition. Add them in the Assets tab.

Graphics look wrong: The wrong Theme Instance may be applied. Check the Theme Instance in Match Settings and confirm it matches the Competition's intended look.

Match Facts not updating: The LiveScore App may not be connected, or the Data Coverage level is too low for the events you're trying to capture.

Stream not reaching the Control Room: Verify the Input is configured correctly and your encoder is sending video to LIGR.
