Understanding Allocation Priority

Written by Julian Rodrigues
Updated today

Allocation Priority determines which Ad Set is used when more than one Ad Set could apply to a Match, ensuring the correct sponsors appear in your graphics.

Does This Apply to You?

Allocation is part of the Ad Allocation system used by organisations on inbuilt themes. If your organisation uses Rive themes, ads are configured directly in Automated Game Plan playlists instead, and the priority rules below do not apply to your setup.

If you are unsure which system your organisation uses, check the theme type assigned to your Competition's overlay (Competition, Settings, Streams and Overlays, Overlay Settings).

What Is Allocation?

Allocation is the process of assigning Ad Sets to Competitions, Clubs, or Teams in LIGR Live. Because a single Match can pull in Ad Sets from multiple sources (for example, the Competition it belongs to and the Clubs of both Teams playing), LIGR uses a priority order to decide which Ad Set wins.

Why Priority Matters

When a Match is created, it may inherit Ad Sets from several places at once:

• The Competition the Match is played in

• The Clubs that own the Teams in the Match

• The Teams themselves

Without a priority system, it would be unclear which sponsors should appear on your Overlays. Allocation Priority resolves this by defining a clear order.

How Allocation Priority Works

LIGR applies Ad Sets in a defined order, with more specific allocations taking precedence over broader ones.

Priority Order

1. Team-level allocation: Ad Sets assigned directly to a Team take the highest priority for that Team's sponsor spots.

2. Club-level allocation: If no Team-level Ad Set exists, the Club's Ad Set is used.

3. Competition-level allocation: If no Team or Club Ad Set applies, the Competition's Ad Set is used as the default.

This means a Team's own sponsors will always override a Club or Competition Ad Set where both are allocated.

Setting Allocation in the App

1. Open the Ads section from the main menu.

2. Go to the Allocation tab.

3. Select the Competition, Club, or Team you want to allocate an Ad Set to.

4. Choose the Ad Set from the list and confirm the allocation.

5. Review the allocation summary to see how the priority will resolve for upcoming Matches.

Tips

• Use Competition-level Ad Sets for sponsors that should appear across every Match in a league.

• Use Club-level Ad Sets when a Club has its own sponsor deals that should override the Competition defaults.

• Use Team-level Ad Sets sparingly, only when a specific Team has unique sponsor obligations.

• Club Admins can manage their own Club-level allocations through the Club Portal, which is useful when delegating sponsor management.

Common Issues

• Wrong sponsors showing in a Match: Check whether a higher-priority allocation (Team or Club) is overriding the Competition Ad Set you expected to see.

• No sponsors appearing at all: Confirm that at least one Ad Set is allocated at the Competition, Club, or Team level for the Match.

• Updated Ad Set not appearing: Ensure the Match is refreshed after changing an allocation so the new Ad Set is picked up.
