Managing Ad Set Allocations

Written by Julian Rodrigues
Updated today

Allocation is the process of assigning Ad Sets to Competitions, Clubs, or Teams in LIGR Live so that the right sponsor graphics appear during the right matches.

Which Ad System Applies to You

LIGR Live supports two advertising systems that run in parallel, and the one you use depends on the type of Theme your organisation has been assigned:

• Ad Allocation (covered in this article) is used by organisations on inbuilt themes. Ad Sets are allocated to Competitions, Clubs, or Teams, and rotation is handled by the system.

• Playlist-based ads are used by organisations on Rive themes. Ads are configured directly in Automated Game Plan playlists rather than through the Allocation tab.

If your organisation uses Rive themes, the Allocation workflow below will not apply to you, and ads should instead be managed through your Automated Game Plan playlists. If you're unsure which theme type your organisation is using, check with your Organisation Owner or Admin.

The rest of this article covers Ad Allocation for organisations on inbuilt themes.

What Allocation Does

Once you've built an Ad Set, it won't appear in any broadcast until it's allocated. Allocation tells LIGR Live where and when to use the sponsor images you've uploaded. You can allocate the same Ad Set to multiple Competitions, Clubs, or Teams, or use different Ad Sets for different scenarios.

Before You Start

Make sure you have:

• At least one Ad Set created with sponsor images uploaded

• The Competition, Club, or Team you want to allocate the Ad Set to already set up in the Assets tab

• Owner, Admin, or appropriate user permissions to manage ads

• Confirmation that your organisation is using inbuilt themes (Ad Allocation does not apply to Rive themes)

Allocation Levels

You can allocate an Ad Set at three different levels:

• Competition level: the Ad Set applies to all matches in that Competition

• Club level: the Ad Set applies to matches involving teams from that Club

• Team level: the Ad Set applies to matches involving that specific Team

Managing Existing Allocations

From the Allocation tab you can:

• View which Ad Sets are currently allocated to each Competition, Club, or Team

• Remove an allocation if you no longer want that Ad Set to run

• Reallocate an Ad Set to a different Competition, Club, or Team

Club Ad Delegation

If you've delegated ad management to a Club, that Club can manage its own Ad Set allocations from the Club Portal. This is useful when individual Clubs want to run their own sponsors without affecting the broader Competition.

Tips

• Allocate at the Competition level first for sponsors that apply across an entire season

• Use Team-level allocations for team-specific sponsors that should only appear when that Team is playing

• Review allocations before each match to confirm the correct sponsors will run

• Keep Ad Set names descriptive so you can easily identify which sponsors belong where

Common Issues

Ads not appearing during the match Check that the Ad Set has been allocated to the Competition, Club, or Team involved in the match. An unallocated Ad Set will not play.

Wrong sponsors showing up You may have overlapping allocations. Check all three levels (Competition, Club, and Team) to see which Ad Sets are active for that match.

Can't see the Allocation option Your user role may not have permission to manage ads. Contact your Organisation Owner or Admin.

Club-level allocations aren't updating Confirm whether ad management has been delegated to the Club. If so, changes must be made from the Club Portal.

Ads aren't running and you're on Rive themes Ad Allocation does not apply to Rive themes. Ads for Rive themes are configured through Automated Game Plan playlists rather than the Allocation tab.
