What is a Venue?

Written by Julian Rodrigues
Updated today

A Venue in LIGR Live is an Asset that represents the physical location where a Match is played, allowing you to associate matches with a specific ground, stadium, or field.

Overview

Venues are one of the core Assets in LIGR Live, alongside Competitions, Clubs, Teams, and Players. You create Venues in advance so they can be selected when setting up a Match. Once assigned, Venue information can be pulled into your broadcast graphics, giving your viewers clear context about where the Match is taking place.

Why Venues Matter

Setting up Venues properly helps you:

• Assign a location to every Match you create

• Display Venue details in overlays and graphics during your broadcast

• Keep your Match records organised for post-match Review Pages

• Reuse the same location details across multiple Matches without re-entering them

Where to Find Venues

Venues live inside the Assets tab in the left sidebar of LIGR Live, alongside Competitions, Clubs, Teams, and Players.

How Venues Fit Into Match Creation

Venues are one piece of the wider Assets structure. To create a Match, you need at minimum a Competition and two Teams, but adding a Venue gives your broadcast a more complete and professional feel.

When you create or edit a Match, you can select a Venue from the list of Venues you have already added to your Organisation.

Creating a Venue

1. Go to the Assets tab in the left sidebar.

2. Open the Venues section.

3. Click the option to add a new Venue.

4. Fill in the Venue details in the form.

5. Save the Venue so it becomes available for Match selection.

Assigning a Venue to a Match

1. Open the Matches tab in the left sidebar.

2. Create a new Match or open an existing one.

3. In the Match setup, select your Venue from the list of available Venues.

4. Save your changes.

Tips

• Create your Venues before you start building Matches, so they are ready to select during Match setup.

• Use clear, recognisable Venue names that match how viewers and commentators refer to the location.

• Reuse existing Venues rather than creating duplicates, so your Asset list stays clean.

Common Issues

Venue not appearing in Match setup: Make sure the Venue has been saved in the Assets tab before creating the Match.

Venue details not showing in graphics: Check that your Theme Instance and Graphics are configured to display Venue data. If in doubt, review your Theme setup for the Competition.

Duplicate Venues: If you see the same location listed more than once, remove the duplicates from the Venues section to keep your Assets tidy.
