Assigning Teams to Competitions in LIGR Live links a Team to a specific league or tournament so it can be selected when creating Matches and appear correctly in graphics, standings, and Match Centre pages.
Why Assign Teams to Competitions
Before a Team can play a Match, it must be part of the Competition that Match sits under. Assigning Teams ensures:
• Teams appear in the Team selection list when you create a Match
• Competition-level Themes and Theme Instances apply correctly to that Team's graphics
• Ad Sets and sponsor Allocations assigned to the Competition flow through to Matches
• Standings, fixtures, and stats on the Match Centre reflect the correct Team roster
Prerequisites
Before you start, make sure you have:
• An existing Competition created under your Organisation
• The Clubs and Teams you want to assign already created as Assets
• Appropriate permissions (Owner, Admin, or User)

Assigning Teams from the Competition
The most common way to assign Teams is directly from within the Competition itself.
1. From the left-hand navigation, go to Assets and select Competitions.
2. Click the Competition you want to add Teams to.
3. Open the Teams tab within the Competition page.
4. Click Add Team (or the equivalent add button).
5. Search for and select the Team you want to assign.
6. Confirm your selection to save the Team to the Competition.
Repeat for each Team you need to include.

Assigning a Team from the Team Page
You can also link a Team to a Competition from the Team's own Asset page.
1. Go to Assets and select Teams.
2. Click the Team you want to assign.
3. Locate the Competitions section on the Team page.
4. Select the Competition (or Competitions) you want this Team to be part of.
5. Save your changes.
This is useful when one Team plays across multiple Competitions within your Organisation.
Removing a Team from a Competition
If a Team no longer participates in a Competition:
1. Open the Competition under Assets > Competitions.
2. Go to the Teams tab.
3. Find the Team in the list and select the remove option next to it.
4. Confirm the removal.
Removing a Team from a Competition does not delete the Team Asset itself — it remains available under Assets > Teams and in any other Competitions it's assigned to.
Tips
• Create your Clubs before your Teams, since Teams belong to a Club. This keeps logos, colours, and venue information consistent.
• If a Team is missing from the selection list, check that it has been created under Assets > Teams first.
• When running multiple age groups or grades, create a separate Team for each grade and assign them to the matching Competition.
• Double-check Team details (name, logo, colours) before assigning — these values feed directly into your Scorebug and other Overlays.
Common Issues
The Team I want isn't showing in the Add Team list Make sure the Team has been created as an Asset. If it exists but still doesn't appear, confirm it isn't already assigned to this Competition.
Team logo or colours look wrong in the Control Room The Team's Asset details drive the graphics. Edit the Team under Assets > Teams, update the logo and colours, then reload the Control Room.
I can't add Teams to a Competition Check your user role. Gameday Operators and Live Scorers may not have permission to modify Competition Assets — you'll need an Admin or Owner to make the change.
A Team appears in the wrong Competition Open the Team's page under Assets > Teams, review its Competitions list, and remove it from any Competition it shouldn't be part of.
