How to Edit Competition Details

Written by Julian Rodrigues
Updated today

Editing a Competition in LIGR Live lets you update the settings, details, and configuration of an existing league, tournament, or series so that the changes flow through to any matches created under it.

Overview

Competitions are foundational Assets in LIGR Live. Once created, you can return to a Competition at any time to update its details, adjust its settings, or change how it connects to other Assets like Teams and Themes. Keeping Competition details accurate ensures your broadcasts display the correct information in graphics and overlays.

Prerequisites

Before editing a Competition, make sure you have:

• An existing Competition in your Organisation

• Appropriate permissions (Owner, Admin, or User role)

• Access to the Assets tab in the left sidebar

How to Access a Competition

1. Click the Assets tab in the left sidebar.

2. Select the Competitions section.

3. Find the Competition you want to edit in the list.

4. Click on the Competition name to open its details page.

Managing Linked Assets

From the Competition, you can also review and update the Teams and settings associated with it. Changes made here may affect matches already scheduled under this Competition.

• Review the list of Teams assigned to the Competition

• Check the Theme Instance applied to the Competition

• Confirm any match settings inherited from the Competition

Tips

• Always double-check spelling and formatting of the Competition name, as it often appears in broadcast graphics.

• If you change Competition details while a match is live, the updated information may not apply until the next match.

• Use the Activity page to track changes made to a Competition, including who edited it and when.

• Keep your Competition list tidy by editing old Competitions rather than creating duplicates for recurring seasons.

Common Issues

Changes not appearing in graphics: Confirm the Theme Instance is correctly linked to the Competition and refresh the Control Room if a match is in progress.

Cannot edit a Competition: Check your user role. Standard Users may have limited edit permissions compared to Admins or the Owner.

Teams missing from the Competition: Teams must be assigned to the Competition via the Teams or Matches setup — confirm their allocation in the Assets tab.

Edits affecting existing matches: Some Competition-level settings cascade to matches already created. Review any active or upcoming matches after making significant changes.
