How to Create a Competition

Creating a Competition in LIGR Live sets up the league, tournament, or series that your matches will be played within, and defines the graphics theme and default settings used across every match in that Competition.

Before You Start

A Competition is the foundation of any broadcast in LIGR Live. You must create at least one Competition before you can create a Match, assign Teams, or apply a Theme Instance.

Prerequisites

• An active LIGR Live Organisation

• Owner, Admin, or User permissions

• A clear idea of the sport, format, and Theme you want to use

• (Optional) Clubs and Teams already created, so you can assign them to the Competition

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Open the Assets Tab

From the left sidebar, click Assets to open the asset management area where Competitions, Clubs, Teams, Players, and Venues are managed.

Step 2: Go to the Competitions Section

Inside Assets, select the Competitions section. This lists every Competition that already exists in your Organisation.

Step 3: Create a New Competition

1. Click the Create Competition button (usually located at the top right of the Competitions list).

2. Enter the Competition name.

3. Select the sport.

4. Fill in any additional details requested, such as season, format, or description.

Step 4: Assign a Theme Instance

Each Competition uses a Theme Instance to control the look and feel of its graphics, including Scorebugs and Overlays.

• Select an existing Theme Instance from the list, or

• Create a new Theme Instance specifically for this Competition

If you are unsure which Theme to use, pick the default supplied for your sport. You can change or update the Theme Instance later.

Step 5: Configure Match Settings

Set the default match settings that will apply to every Match created under this Competition. These typically include items such as:

• Match duration and period structure

• Data Coverage level (from Minimum to Standard)

• Default Venue (optional)

• Default Ad Set allocations (optional)

Step 6: Save the Competition

Click Save (or Create) to finalise the Competition. It will now appear in the Competitions list and be available when creating a new Match.

Tips

• Name your Competitions clearly, especially if you run multiple seasons, so operators can quickly pick the right one during Match creation.

• Set up your Theme Instance carefully. Because it drives the graphics for every Match in the Competition, changes here affect all fixtures.

• Assign default Ad Sets at the Competition level to save time when creating Matches.

• If you run the same league across multiple seasons, create a new Competition per season rather than reusing one, so stats and recordings stay organised.

Common Issues

I can't create a Match because no Competition is available Matches require at least one Competition. Return to Assets → Competitions and create one first.

My graphics don't look right during a Match Check the Theme Instance assigned to the Competition. Updating the Theme Instance will update the look of graphics across all Matches in that Competition.

I don't see the Create Competition button Your user role may not allow Competition creation. Check your permissions with your Organisation Owner or Admin.

Teams don't appear when setting up a Match Teams must be created in Assets and assigned to the Competition before they can be selected for a Match.
