A Competition in LIGR Live is the league, tournament, or series that your matches are played within, and it acts as the top-level container that links teams, themes, graphics, and match settings together.
Why Competitions Matter
Competitions are one of the core Assets in LIGR Live and sit at the foundation of every broadcast. Before you can create a match, you must have a Competition set up, because the Competition defines how that match looks and behaves on screen.
Each Competition controls:
• The Theme Instance applied to all matches within it
• The teams that are assigned to play in it
• The default match settings and data coverage level
• The Automated Game Plan and playlists used during matches
• The Ad Sets allocated to matches in that Competition

Where Competitions Fit in the Asset Structure
Competitions live inside the Assets tab in the left sidebar, alongside Clubs, Teams, Players, and Venues. They are the highest level of organisation for your matches.
Here is how the pieces connect:
• Competition — the league or tournament
• Clubs and Teams — the participants assigned to the Competition
• Players — the rosters within each Team
• Venues — the locations where matches in the Competition are played
• Match — created under a Competition, between two Teams
Without a Competition, there is nowhere for a match to sit.
What a Competition Controls
Theme and Graphics
Every Competition is linked to a Theme Instance. The Theme Instance determines the look and feel of all overlays, scorebugs, lower thirds, and full-screen graphics used in matches played in that Competition. If you want a different visual style, you would use a different Theme Instance on a different Competition.
Teams
Teams are assigned to a Competition so they are available when you create a match. A Team can be part of more than one Competition.
Automated Game Plan
The Competition is where the Automated Game Plan and playlists are configured. This controls which graphics play automatically during match events such as goals, cards, and period changes.
Ads
Ad Sets are allocated to Competitions so sponsor content appears during matches in that Competition.

When to Create a New Competition
Create a new Competition when:
• You are broadcasting a new league, tournament, or series
• You need a different Theme Instance for a different look
• You want a separate Automated Game Plan for a different sport or format
• You need to keep sponsors and Ad Sets separate from another event
Tips
• Set up your Competition before creating any matches, so the Theme Instance and Game Plan are ready to flow into each match.
• Give your Competition a clear, descriptive name. It will appear across the app and in graphics data.
• Assign all participating Teams to the Competition early, so match creation is quick on game day.
• If you run multiple seasons, create a new Competition per season to keep stats, matches, and media cleanly separated.
Common Issues
• Cannot create a match — Check that at least one Competition exists and that two Teams are assigned to it.
• Graphics look wrong or generic — The Competition may not have a Theme Instance linked, or the wrong Theme Instance is selected.
• Sponsors not appearing — Ad Sets may not be allocated to the Competition.
• Automated graphics not firing — The Automated Game Plan on the Competition may be incomplete or set to Manual Mode on the match.
