Overview

Theme instances allow you to create multiple output configurations from a single game plan — for example, a full-graphics media stream and a scoreboard-only stream for radar/IMG distribution. Each instance shares the same match data (score, time, events) but can have different graphics configurations, making them ideal for broadcasting to multiple destinations with different overlay requirements.

You'll use theme instances when:

* Broadcasting to multiple platforms with different graphic requirements

* Sending a full-graphics feed to one destination and a scoreboard-only feed to another

* Creating separate outputs for media screens versus distribution partners like radar or IMG

* Managing multiple overlay styles for the same match from a single game plan

Key Concepts

Theme Instance
A separate output configuration within the same game plan. Each instance can have its own graphics settings, control variables, and playlist configurations while sharing the same underlying match data.

Scoreboard-Only Instance
A theme instance configured to show only the scoreboard graphic with essential match information, creating a clean feed without additional overlays like lower-thirds, player stats, or animations.

Full-Graphics Instance
A theme instance that includes all graphics: scoreboard, lower-thirds, player stats, animations, and advertisements. Typically used for primary media streams.

Control Variables
Settings specific to each theme instance that control what information displays on the scoreboard, such as stoppage time, card indicators, substitution counters, and period indicators.

How to Create Theme Instances

Creating a Full-Graphics Theme Instance

1. Open your game plan in the Automation platform

2. Create the first theme instance for your primary media stream

3. This instance includes all graphics: scoreboard, lower-thirds, player stats, animations, and advertisements

4. Configure the default graphics for this instance

Creating a Scoreboard-Only Theme Instance

1. Create a second theme instance for the scoreboard-only output

2. Remove all graphics except the scoreboard

3. This creates a clean output with just the essential match information overlay

4. Configure the scoreboard-specific control variables

Configuring Scoreboard Variables

Set up the scoreboard-specific control variables for the scoreboard-only instance. Key variables include:

* Stoppage time display

* Card indicators

* Substitution counters

* Period/half indicators

These variables should be configured for both instances to maintain consistency across outputs.

Testing Theme Instances

Preview both theme instances to verify they display correctly:

* The full-graphics instance should show all overlays

* The scoreboard-only instance should show a clean feed with only the scoreboard

* Verify that match data updates across all instances simultaneously

Tips

* Theme instances share the same match data — changes to score, time, or events update across all instances simultaneously

* The scoreboard-only instance is ideal for distribution partners (radar, IMG) who need clean feeds

* Each theme instance can have its own default graphic configuration

* You can create more than two instances — for example, a third instance for social media with a different graphic style
