Overview
LIGR Live supports two theme systems that determine how your broadcast overlays appear on screen. Inbuilt themes are pre-built graphics packages designed by LIGR with standard layouts and customization options. Rive themes are custom-designed graphics that you create using the Rive design tool and configure in FUSE. Both systems control the visual appearance of scoreboards, lower thirds, player graphics, and other overlays during live broadcasts, but they differ in how they're customized and controlled.
When you create a competition, you select a theme that determines how all overlays and graphics look for matches in that competition. The theme type you choose affects how you configure graphics, how you control them during broadcasts, and how you set up advertising.
Inbuilt Themes
Inbuilt themes are pre-built graphics packages designed by LIGR. When you create a competition, you browse available inbuilt themes and select one. Each inbuilt theme includes different skins (color profiles) that you can choose from to match your branding.
When you review how the theme looks during competition setup, you see previews of how it appears during different match moments: break graphics, in-match graphics, and player graphics. You can select different skins to change the color profile before finalizing your selection.
Inbuilt themes use the standard Control Room for manual graphic control during live matches. When Auto Mode is enabled, graphics appear automatically when match events are logged. When Auto Mode is disabled, you manually control which graphics appear from the Control Room.
For advertising with inbuilt themes, you assign ad sets to competitions, clubs, or teams through the Ads tab allocation system. The system handles ad rotation and looping automatically during a match based on your allocation percentages.
Rive Themes
Rive themes are custom-designed graphics that you create using the Rive design tool and configure in FUSE. This system provides complete design control over your broadcast graphics. You design the visual appearance in Rive, then import the Rive file into FUSE where you bind data from the LIGR platform to the graphic elements.
When you import a Rive file into FUSE, FUSE automatically detects the Rive file's exposed inputs — text fields, image slots, color inputs, and number values. These become the elements you bind data to using FUSE expressions. You can access the full LIGR data hierarchy including league, competition, match, teams, players, statistics, and events.
Rive themes use control variables configured in FUSE. Control variables let you create toggleable options that operators can adjust in the Control Room during a live broadcast. Boolean control variables create toggle switches, String variables allow text entry, and Player variables create roster dropdowns. When you publish a FUSE graphic, these control variables appear in the Control Room ready for operator use.
For advertising with Rive themes, you configure ads directly within Automated Game Plan playlists. You can set up in-graphic ads (embedded within broadcast graphics) and detached ads (standalone overlays positioned anywhere on screen). Ad slots are added to playlists with specific timing and trigger configuration.
Changing Themes
You can change the graphics theme for a competition after creation. To update the theme:
1. Click Assets > Competitions
2. Select the competition you wish to edit
3. Click the Theme Instances tab
4. Click Add Theme Instance
5. Select your new preferred theme from the theme selection page
6. Configure the theme settings as needed
7. The new theme will apply to the competition
To update theme colors for an existing inbuilt theme:
1. Click Assets > Competitions
2. Select the competition you wish to edit
3. Click the Theme Instances tab
4. Find the theme you wish to edit from the list
5. Click the Edit icon button
6. Select Change Skin to modify the color profile
Graphics Display During Broadcasts
Regardless of theme type, graphics appear on your broadcast through overlays. Each overlay is assigned to a stream and displays on top of your video feed. The overlay must be enabled for graphics to appear on screen.
For inbuilt themes, graphics are controlled from the standard Control Room interface. You can toggle between Auto Mode (graphics appear automatically when match events are logged) and Manual Mode (you control when graphics appear).
For Rive themes, graphics are controlled through the FUSE Control Room using the control variables you configured in FUSE. Auto Mode is managed through Automated Game Plan playlists that determine when graphics appear based on time triggers or match events.
Theme Selection Considerations
When creating a competition, you select a theme by clicking Create a Competition, browsing available themes, and clicking Select and Configure on your preferred theme. You review how the theme looks during different match moments before finalizing your selection.
Inbuilt themes provide faster setup with pre-designed graphics packages. You can select different skins to match your branding and start broadcasting quickly without custom design work.
Rive themes require design work in Rive and configuration in FUSE, but provide complete control over the visual appearance of your graphics. You can create entirely custom layouts, integrate external data sources, and design graphics that match your specific branding requirements.
