Getting Started with Themes

What Themes Are

Themes control the visual appearance and graphics framework used across your productions. A Theme defines how overlays, scoreboards, lower thirds, sponsor graphics, full frames, transitions, and other broadcast graphics appear on screen during a match.

Themes are assigned at the competition level, meaning every match created under that competition automatically inherits the selected graphics package and visual style.

LIGR Live currently supports two different Theme systems:

Inbuilt Themes (Legacy)

Inbuilt Themes are the original graphics system built directly into LIGR Live. These Themes use LIGR’s legacy graphics workflows and advertising systems, including allocation-based sponsor rotations and traditional overlay configurations.

Inbuilt Themes are designed for fast deployment and simplified broadcast workflows while still supporting overlays, scorebugs, sponsor graphics, and automated match graphics.

Rive Themes

Rive Themes are the newer generation graphics system built using Rive and Fuse workflows. These Themes support significantly more advanced graphics capabilities including animated graphics packages, custom workflows, advanced control room behaviors, contextual graphics triggering, external data integrations, and highly customized broadcast presentations.

Rive Themes are designed for productions that require greater flexibility, branding control, automation, and modern graphics workflows.

Depending on the Theme type being used, the graphics setup, advertising workflows, and Control Room experience may differ.

What Control Rooms Are

Control Rooms are the environments used to manage and operate live graphics during productions.

A Control Room contains the graphics templates, sections, controls, workflows, and live event integrations operators use throughout a broadcast.

The type of Control Room available depends on the Theme system being used.

Legacy Control Rooms

Legacy Control Rooms are connected to Inbuilt Themes and use LIGR’s original graphics workflows. These Control Rooms focus on simplified overlay management and traditional graphics control directly within the LIGR platform.

Rive Control Rooms

Rive Control Rooms are connected to Rive Themes and use graphics templates published through Rive and Fuse workflows. These Control Rooms support significantly more advanced production environments including:

  • Dynamic graphics templates

  • Context-driven graphics triggering

  • Event-linked graphics behaviors

  • Team sheet integrations

  • Advanced rundown organisation

  • Multi-section graphics workflows

  • External data integrations

  • Complex operator-driven productions

Rive Control Rooms are designed to behave more like modern broadcast graphics operating environments rather than traditional overlay controllers.

How Themes and Control Rooms Work Together

Themes define the graphics system, visual design, and template framework used across productions.

Control Rooms provide the operational environment operators use to control and trigger those graphics during live broadcasts.

When a Theme is assigned to a competition:

  • Matches inherit the graphics package automatically

  • Overlays use the Theme’s templates and styling

  • The available Control Room workflows depend on the Theme type

  • Graphics, sponsor elements, and production behaviors follow the selected Theme system

Together, Themes and Control Rooms form the foundation of the live graphics workflow inside LIGR Live.
