Overview

LIGR Live offers two viewing methods for monitoring your streams: WebRTC and HLS. Both methods display your live stream within the LIGR interface, but they differ in latency, stability, and use case.

WebRTC provides lower latency viewing, making it better for real-time monitoring during live broadcasts. HLS offers more stable playback and shows you what your audience experiences in terms of stream quality.

You can switch between these viewing modes from the Stream View page to suit your monitoring needs during different stages of your broadcast.

WebRTC Viewing

WebRTC (Web Real-Time Communication) is the lower latency viewing option within LIGR Live.

Characteristics:

* Lower latency compared to HLS

* Better for real-time monitoring during active broadcasts

* Allows you to see what's happening on your stream with minimal delay

* Useful when you need to make quick decisions during live matches

HLS Viewing

HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) is the more stable viewing option within LIGR Live.

Characteristics:

* More stable playback compared to WebRTC

* Shows stream quality as your audience sees it

* Better for verifying what viewers are actually experiencing

* Higher latency than WebRTC

When to Use Each Method

Use WebRTC when:

* You need real-time monitoring during active broadcasts

* You're making live decisions about graphics or stream settings

* You want to see stream status with minimal delay

* You're actively controlling the broadcast

Use HLS when:

* You want to verify what your audience is experiencing

* You're checking stream quality and stability

* You need more stable playback

* You're troubleshooting quality issues

How to Switch Between Viewing Modes

1. Navigate to the Matches section in the left-hand dashboard

2. Find your active match and expand the match view

3. Access the stream's Action Menu and select View, or click the white space of the stream row to open the side panel and select View

4. The Stream View page opens showing your live stream

5. Switch between WebRTC and HLS viewing modes using the viewing mode selector

Connections to Other Sections

Streaming Section

Both WebRTC and HLS viewing methods are available in the Multiview section of the Streaming tab, allowing you to monitor multiple streams simultaneously using either viewing mode.

Matches Section

Stream View pages accessed from individual matches provide both WebRTC and HLS options for monitoring specific match streams.

Tips

During Live Broadcasts

* Use WebRTC for real-time monitoring during active matches

* Switch to HLS periodically to verify audience experience

* Keep both viewing modes in mind when troubleshooting stream issues

Quality Verification

* Use HLS view to see what your audience is experiencing in terms of stream quality

* WebRTC shows you stream status faster but may not reflect exact audience experience

* Check both modes if you're experiencing playback issues
