Create a moment from a match recording

Place a keyframe on the match recording, give it a title, trim the lead and lag, then preview and save it as a moment.

A moment is a custom highlight you clip yourself from a match recording. You place a keyframe where the action happens, choose how much plays before and after it, and save it. Moments let you capture things that didn't trigger an automatic highlight, like near misses, great saves or crowd reactions.

Before you start

  • You need a match recording. Recordings come from matches streamed through LIGR Live, so your organisation needs the Streaming module.

  • Highlights and moments depend on Streaming. If you can't see Match Recordings in the Multimedia tab, check your modules with your organisation's Owner or Admin.

Open the Moments editor

  1. Go to Multimedia and open Match Recordings.

  2. Click the recording you want to clip from, for example Harbour City (HCF) v Ridgeview (RVR) in the LIGR Demo League.

  3. In the full-screen view, click the Moments Editor button.

The timeline is grouped by half (First Half, Half Time, Second Half, Full Time), so it's easy to find your way around a long recording. Use the zoom control to spread the timeline out when you need more precision.

Create a moment

1. Place the keyframe

Click play, or drag along the timeline with your cursor, to find the action you want. Move the playhead to the exact point of the moment, such as the instant the ball hits the post. Pause playback, then click New Moment. The New Moment button only appears while playback is paused.

A keyframe is added on the track, right where the playhead is. This keyframe is the anchor for your clip. Everything else is measured from it.

2. Give the moment a title

In the panel that opens, enter a Title. Make it descriptive, for example "HCF near miss off the post". The title is how you'll find the moment later in the moments list and in Highlights. You can also add a Tag if you like. Tags are optional.

3. Set the lead and lag

Under Trim, set how much of the recording plays around the keyframe:

  • Lead: the number of seconds of video before the keyframe. Use this to show the build-up.

  • Lag: the number of seconds of video after the keyframe. Use this to show the reaction or celebration.

Both default to 15 seconds. The Duration updates as you change either value, so you can see the total length of the clip straight away.

4. Preview and save

Click Preview to watch the clip with your current lead and lag. If it starts too late or cuts off too early, adjust the values and preview again. When you're happy, click Save Moment.

What happens after you save

The new moment appears in the moments list in the editor. Each moment shows its start time, duration and which half it's in. It also appears in the Highlights section of the Multimedia tab, where you can edit, share and download it like any other highlight.

To change a moment later, click Edit on it in the list. You can rename it, change its tag, adjust the lead and lag, or download it. Changes you make here also show in Highlights.

Tips and common mistakes

  • Can't see New Moment? Pause playback first. The button is hidden while the recording is playing.

  • Place the keyframe on the key action itself, not the start of the play. Then use lead to bring in the build-up.

  • Keep clips short for social media. A smaller lead and lag gives you a tight clip that's quick to share.

  • Always preview before saving. It's the fastest way to catch a clip that misses the important part.

  • Use the half filter tabs and search bar in the moments list to find saved moments quickly in a long match.
