Overview
You can change a team's competition assignment at any time — even after matches have been created for that team. When you reassign a team to a new competition, existing matches retain the original competition assignment, but any new matches created with that team will appear under the newly assigned competition.
How Competition Assignment Works
When you create a match in LIGR Live, you select a competition first, then choose the home and away teams. The match is permanently linked to that competition — this determines which theme, match settings, and pre-configured options apply to that match.
If you later change a team's competition assignment, the match itself doesn't move to the new competition. The match stays under the competition it was assigned to when it was created and when it started.
What Happens When You Change a Team's Competition Assignment
Teams can be assigned to a new competition during a match, but that change does not affect the match itself in terms of match settings. The match will still show that team under the competition it was assigned to before the team's competition assignment was changed and before the match started.
If a new match is created with that team after the competition assignment change, it will appear under the newly assigned competition.
How to Change a Team's Competition Assignment
1. Click Assets > Clubs and Teams
2. Select the team you want to reassign
3. Click the General tab
4. Click on the Competitions section to assign the team to competitions — a dropdown will appear with all available competitions. You can select one or multiple competitions
5. Click Save at the bottom of the screen
Important Notes
* Match settings are determined by the competition the match was assigned to when it was created — changing a team's competition assignment does not change the match settings for existing matches
* Completed matches remain under their original competition assignment permanently
* Teams can be assigned to multiple competitions at once — this allows the same team to participate in different leagues or tournaments
* Only teams assigned to a competition will appear in the team dropdown when creating a match under that competition
