Previewing Graphics Before Going Live

Written by Julian Rodrigues

Previewing graphics in the Control Room lets you check how an Overlay will look on the output before you send it to air, so you can catch issues with data, layout, or timing before your audience sees them.

Why Preview Graphics?

Previewing is a core part of a safe broadcast workflow. Before you trigger a Graphic live, you can confirm:

• The correct team names, logos, and colours are loaded

• Player data (names, numbers, stats) is accurate

• The Theme Instance is applying the right look and feel

• Any Control Variables from FUSE templates are set correctly

• Sponsor images in a Sponsor Loop or Ad Set are displaying as expected

Prerequisites

Before you can preview Graphics, make sure you have:

• A Match created under a Competition

• A Theme Instance assigned to the Match

• Access to the Control Room via the Production Link

• The correct user role (Owner, Admin, User, or Gameday Operator)

Opening the Control Room

1. Navigate to your Match in LIGR Live.

2. Click the Production Link to open the Control Room.

3. Wait for all Graphics and the Theme to load fully before interacting with any controls.

If you only need to watch the output without control access, use the Monitoring Link instead.

Previewing a Graphic

The Control Room separates the Preview output from the Live output, so you can stage a Graphic before pushing it on air.

1. In the Control Room, locate the Graphics panel for the Graphic you want to check (for example, a Scorebug, lower third, or lineup card).

2. Click the Graphic to load it into the Preview pane.

3. Review the Preview pane to confirm the data and visuals are correct.

4. Adjust any Control Variables or data fields attached to the Graphic if needed.

5. When you are ready, trigger the Graphic to send it to the Live output.

Previewing a Playlist

Playlists run a sequence of Graphics automatically. You can preview a Playlist the same way:

1. Select the Playlist from the Graphics panel.

2. Load it into the Preview pane to step through each Graphic in the sequence.

3. Confirm the order, timing, and data for each Graphic.

4. Trigger the Playlist when you are happy with it.

Previewing in Manual Mode vs. Automated Game Plan

• In Manual Mode, you preview and trigger every Graphic yourself, giving you full control over what appears on the Live output.

• With an Automated Game Plan, Graphics and Playlists are triggered by Match Facts from the LiveScore App. You can still preview upcoming Graphics in the Control Room to verify content before they auto-fire.

Tips

• Always preview Graphics that rely on live data (scores, player stats) a few seconds before you plan to trigger them, so the latest Match Facts are reflected.

• Use the Monitoring Link on a second screen or device to watch the Live output while you preview on your main Control Room screen.

• If you're using a FUSE template with Control Variables, adjust and preview those variables before going live rather than during.

• Test every key Graphic (Scorebug, lineups, lower thirds, full-screen graphics) before kickoff to avoid surprises mid-match.

Common Issues

The Preview pane is blank or frozen Refresh the Control Room via the Production Link. Make sure your browser tab stayed active and the Theme Instance finished loading.

Data in the Preview is out of date Check that the LiveScore App is connected and sending Match Facts. The Preview uses the same data source as the Live output.

The Graphic looks different in Preview vs. Live Confirm you're previewing the correct Theme Instance for the Match. A mismatched Theme can cause layout or branding differences.
