How to Show and Hide the Scorebug

Written by Julian Rodrigues
Updated today

The Scorebug is the persistent graphic that displays the live score, match time, and team information during your broadcast, and you can toggle it on or off at any point from the Control Room.

What Is the Scorebug?

The Scorebug is a small overlay that sits on top of your video stream throughout a match. It typically shows:

• Team names or abbreviations

• Current score

• Match time or clock

• Period, half, or quarter indicator

Because it is a persistent graphic, the Scorebug usually stays on screen for most of the match, but there are moments when you will want to hide it, such as during replays, full-screen graphics, or commercial breaks.

Prerequisites

Before you can show or hide the Scorebug, make sure:

• You have created a Match under a Competition

• A Theme Instance is assigned that includes a Scorebug graphic

• You have opened the Control Room using the Production Link for your match

• You have the correct permissions (Gameday Operator, User, Admin, or Owner)

Showing the Scorebug

Once you are inside the Control Room, the Scorebug is controlled like any other overlay.

1. Open the Control Room for your match.

2. Locate the Scorebug graphic in the graphics panel.

3. Click the Scorebug to trigger it on air.

4. Confirm it has appeared in your output preview.

When the Scorebug is live, its button state will update to indicate it is currently on air.

Hiding the Scorebug

To take the Scorebug off screen:

1. In the Control Room, find the Scorebug that is currently on air.

2. Click the Scorebug again to toggle it off.

3. Check your preview to confirm the Scorebug has been removed from the output.

Using the Scorebug with Automated Game Plans

If your match is running with an Automated Game Plan, the Scorebug may be shown and hidden automatically based on match events such as kick-off, half-time, and full-time.

• You can still manually override the Scorebug state from the Control Room at any time.

• If you are running in Manual Mode, the Scorebug will only appear and disappear when you trigger it yourself.

Tips

• Hide the Scorebug before triggering full-screen graphics such as lineup cards or sponsor takeovers so they display cleanly.

• Bring the Scorebug back on air as soon as play resumes to keep viewers oriented.

• If you are unsure whether the Scorebug is live, check the output preview in the Control Room rather than the program feed from your encoder, as there can be a slight delay.

• Use the Monitoring Link on a second screen to keep an eye on the Scorebug state without risking accidental clicks.

Common Issues

The Scorebug button does not appear in the Control Room Check that the Theme Instance assigned to your Competition or Match includes a Scorebug graphic. If it does not, you may need to update your Theme Instance.

The Scorebug appears but shows incorrect team names or scores Confirm that the correct Teams are assigned to the Match and that your Live Scorer is connected through the LiveScore App. Scores update from Match Facts recorded in the app.

The Scorebug will not hide Refresh the Control Room and try toggling the Scorebug again. If the issue persists, check that no Automated Game Plan rule is re-triggering the Scorebug immediately after you hide it.

The Scorebug appears in the Control Room but not in the stream output Verify that your Input is connected and that graphics are being composited correctly, either through NDI into your production software or through LIGR's stream output to your Destination.
