How to Stop and Restart a Stream

Stopping and restarting a stream in LIGR Live lets you end a live broadcast cleanly or recover from stream issues without ending the match itself.

When You Might Need to Stop or Restart a Stream

There are several situations where stopping or restarting a stream is the right action:

• The match has finished and you want to end the broadcast

• Your encoder (OBS, vMix, or hardware encoder) has disconnected and the stream needs to be re-established

• You need to switch inputs or change stream settings mid-match

• The stream is experiencing quality issues and a clean restart will resolve them

• You started the stream by mistake and need to stop it before going live

Before You Start

Make sure you have:

• Owner, Admin, User, or Gameday Operator permissions for the match

• Access to the match's Stream View page

• Your encoder software open if you plan to restart the stream afterwards

How to Stop a Stream

Stopping a stream ends the live broadcast to all destinations (such as YouTube Live, Facebook Live, or any RTMP endpoint).

1. Open the Matches tab in the left sidebar.

2. Find the match that is currently streaming and click into it.

3. Open the Stream View for that match.

4. Locate the stream controls at the top of the Stream View page.

5. Click Stop Stream.

6. Confirm the action when prompted.

Once stopped, the stream will disconnect from all destinations. The match recording will also stop, and the recording will become available in the Multimedia tab shortly afterwards.

How to Restart a Stream

If you need to go live again after stopping, you can start a new stream from the same match.

1. Stay on the Stream View page for the match.

2. Make sure your encoder is running and pointed at the correct Input.

3. Click Start Stream.

4. Wait for the stream status indicator to show the stream is live.

5. Verify the output is reaching your destinations before continuing the broadcast.

Restarting From the Encoder Side

If the issue is on the encoder side rather than in LIGR Live:

1. Stop the stream in LIGR Live using the steps above.

2. In your encoder (OBS, vMix, or hardware encoder), stop the output.

3. Restart your encoder output, making sure the RTMP settings still match your Input in LIGR Live.

4. Click Start Stream in the LIGR Stream View.

Tips

• Stopping a stream does not end the match itself. The Control Room, Game Plan, and LiveScore App can continue to operate.

• If you restart a stream mid-match, destinations like YouTube Live may treat it as a new broadcast. Check your destination settings before restarting.

• Use the Streaming tab with Multiview to confirm the stream has fully stopped before starting it again.

• If you only need to monitor without control, use the Monitoring Link rather than stopping the stream.

Common Issues

The Stop Stream button is greyed out This usually means the stream has already stopped or there is no active stream. Refresh the page to confirm the current status.

The stream will not restart Check that your encoder is actively sending to the correct RTMP Input. If the encoder is disconnected, LIGR Live cannot start a new stream.

Destinations show the stream as offline after restart Some destinations take up to a minute to reconnect. If the stream does not reappear at the destination, check the destination settings in the Stream View and confirm the stream key and URL are still valid.

The recording did not save after stopping Allow a few minutes for the recording to process. It will appear under Match Recordings in the Multimedia tab once ready.
