How to Customise Theme Colours and Logos

Customising a Theme Instance in LIGR Live lets you tailor the look of your graphics so they match the branding of your Competition, Clubs, and Teams.

What Is a Theme Instance?

A Theme is a visual template that defines how graphics appear during a Match. Themes are platform-level assets, built by the LIGR team and assigned to your Organisation. Customers cannot edit Themes directly.

A Theme Instance is a customer-level configuration of a Theme. It is where you set colours, logos, and other branding options that flow through to the graphics used across your Matches. Theme Instances are assigned at the Competition overlay level (Competition, Settings, Streams and Overlays, Overlay Settings).

A single Competition can have multiple overlays, and each overlay has its own Theme Instance and Game Plan. This means you can run different branding or graphic configurations in parallel on the same Competition (for example, a main broadcast overlay and a secondary overlay for a different output).

Prerequisites

Before you start, make sure you have:

• An existing Competition with at least one overlay configured

• A Theme Instance assigned to the overlay you want to customise

• Owner, Admin, or User permissions on the Organisation

• Your logo files ready (transparent PNG recommended)

• Your brand colour values (hex codes) available

Accessing Your Theme Instance

1. From the main navigation, open the Competitions section.

2. Select the Competition you want to customise.

3. Open Settings, then Streams and Overlays.

4. Under Overlay Settings, locate the overlay you want to update.

5. Open the Theme Instance assigned to that overlay to access its configuration.

If your Competition uses multiple overlays, repeat these steps for each overlay whose branding you want to adjust. Each Theme Instance is configured independently.

Customising Theme Colours

Colours set at the Theme Instance level apply across the graphics driven by that overlay for the Competition.

1. In the Theme Instance configuration, locate the colour fields (such as primary, secondary, and accent colours).

2. Click a colour swatch to open the colour picker.

3. Enter your hex code or use the picker to select a colour.

4. Repeat for each colour field you want to update.

5. Save your changes.

Team Colours vs Theme Colours

Team colours are managed separately on each Team asset. The Theme Instance controls the overall Competition branding, while Team colours appear where graphics display team-specific data (for example, team bars and score elements).

Uploading Logos

Logos added to the Theme Instance appear on graphics that reference the Competition brand, such as full-screen overlays, lineup cards, and sponsor placements.

1. In the Theme Instance configuration, find the logo upload fields.

2. Click the upload area for the logo you want to add.

3. Select your image file from your computer.

4. Wait for the upload to complete and confirm the preview looks correct.

5. Save your changes.

Logo File Tips

• Use transparent PNG files for the cleanest result on graphics

• Upload logos at a high enough resolution to look sharp on HD and 4K streams

• Keep file sizes reasonable to ensure fast loading during a broadcast

Previewing Your Changes

After saving, open a Match within the Competition and review the graphics output for the overlay you updated to confirm your colours and logos appear as expected.

Tips

• Make all your Theme Instance changes before a live Match rather than mid-broadcast

• Keep a record of your hex codes so you can reuse them across Competitions

• If your Competition involves multiple Clubs, coordinate on which logos belong at the Competition level versus the Club or Team level

• If a Competition uses multiple overlays, remember each overlay has its own Theme Instance and needs to be configured separately

• Test your Theme Instance with a practice Match before going live

Common Issues

My colour changes aren't showing on team-specific graphics. Some graphic elements use Team colours rather than Theme colours. Check the relevant Team asset and update its colours there.

My logo looks pixelated on stream. Re-upload a higher-resolution version of the logo. Avoid scaling up small source files.

The logo has a white background instead of being transparent. Export your logo as a PNG with a transparent background. JPEGs do not support transparency.

I updated a Theme Instance but the graphics look unchanged on one of my overlays. Confirm which Theme Instance is assigned to that overlay. Because each overlay on a Competition can have its own Theme Instance, changes made to one will not affect another. Update the Theme Instance assigned to the specific overlay you want to change.

I saved changes but the output still shows the old branding. Refresh the relevant browser tab to pull in the latest Theme Instance settings.
