Previewing a Theme Instance lets you check how your graphics will look before they go live in a Match, so you can confirm colours, logos, and layouts are correct for the Competition.
What Is a Theme Instance Preview?
Themes in LIGR Live are platform-level and built by the LIGR team. When a Theme is made available to your organisation, you configure it as a Theme Instance, which is a customer-level configuration assigned at the Competition overlay level (Competition > Settings > Streams and Overlays > Overlay Settings). A Competition can have multiple overlays, and each overlay has its own Theme Instance and Game Plan.
Previewing a Theme Instance allows you to see the graphics rendered with real Competition, Team, and Club data without needing to start a Match.
This is useful when you want to:
• Verify team colours and logos are pulling through correctly
• Check sponsor placements within graphics
• Confirm graphic styling matches your Competition branding
• Review graphics after adjusting a Theme Instance configuration
Prerequisites
Before you can preview a Theme Instance, make sure you have:
• A Competition created in your Organisation
• A Theme assigned to that Competition as a Theme Instance on at least one overlay
• At least two Teams assigned to the Competition so graphics have data to display
How to Preview a Theme Instance
1. From the main navigation, open the Competitions section.
2. Select the Competition whose Theme Instance you want to preview.
3. Open the Theme tab within the Competition.
4. Locate the Theme Instance assigned to the overlay you want to review. If the Competition has multiple overlays, each will have its own Theme Instance listed.
5. Click the Preview option on the Theme Instance.

The preview will open and render the graphics using sample data from the Competition's Teams and Clubs.
Navigating the Preview
Within the preview, you can:
• Cycle through different graphics (such as lower thirds, full-screen graphics, and lineup cards)
• View how each graphic looks with the assigned Team and Club data
• Check that sponsor content displays correctly

Tips
• Preview your Theme Instance after any configuration change to catch styling issues early.
• If your Competition uses multiple Teams with similar colours, preview graphics with different Team combinations to ensure contrast and readability.
• If your Competition uses multiple overlays, preview each Theme Instance separately so you can confirm each overlay behaves as expected.
• Preview before creating your first Match in a Competition to avoid surprises during live play.
Common Issues
Team logos or colours are missing in the preview Check that the Teams and Clubs assigned to the Competition have their logos and colours set correctly on their asset pages.
Graphics look different in the preview than during a live Match Make sure the Theme Instance you are previewing is the one assigned to the overlay being used in the Match. Each overlay on a Competition can have a different Theme Instance, so confirm you are reviewing the correct one.
Preview appears blank or doesn't load Confirm that a Theme Instance is actually assigned to the Competition overlay. A Competition overlay without an assigned Theme Instance will not render graphics in the preview.
Sponsor images aren't showing For organisations using inbuilt themes, verify that an Ad Set has been allocated to the Competition, Club, or Team. For organisations using Rive themes, confirm that ads have been configured in the relevant Automated Game Plan playlists for the overlay.
