Automatically Creating Highlights from Match Facts

Written by Julian Rodrigues
Updated today

LIGR Live can automatically generate Highlights from the Match Facts recorded during a match, turning key events like goals, cards, and substitutions into ready-to-share video clips without manual editing.

How Automatic Highlights Work

When a match is being scored through the LiveScore App, each event (a Match Fact) is timestamped against the match recording. LIGR uses these timestamps to create Moments — short tagged clips around each event — which can then be combined into Highlights and Compilations.

The more Match Facts captured during a match, the more Highlights you will have available afterwards.

Prerequisites

Before you can rely on automatic Highlights, make sure the following are in place:

• The match has an active Stream being recorded by LIGR

• A Live Scorer is logged into the LiveScore App and recording Match Facts in real time

• The Competition and Match have an appropriate Data Coverage level set

• The match has finished processing after the Stream ends

Setting Up a Match for Automatic Highlights

1. Confirm Data Coverage

Data Coverage determines which Match Facts are tracked and therefore which Highlights can be generated.

1. Open your Competition from the Assets section.

2. Check the Data Coverage level assigned to the Competition.

3. Adjust the level if you need more event types captured (for example, moving from Minimum to Standard).

2. Assign a Live Scorer

1. Go to the Match you want to cover.

2. Assign a user with the Live Scorer role (or higher) to the match.

3. Share the LiveScore App access details with them ahead of kick-off.

3. Make Sure the Stream Is Recording

For automatic Highlights to work, LIGR needs a recording to clip from.

1. Open the Streaming tab for the match.

2. Confirm the Input is connected and the Stream is live.

3. Leave the Stream running for the full duration of the match so the recording captures every Match Fact.

Capturing Match Facts During the Match

During the match, the Live Scorer uses the LiveScore App to record events as they happen. Each Match Fact logged — such as a goal, card, or substitution — is automatically tagged against the match recording as a Moment.

Tips for cleaner Highlights:

• Record Match Facts as close to the live moment as possible for accurate clip timing

• Avoid deleting and re-adding events unnecessarily, as this can affect Moment timestamps

• Keep the Stream running continuously; stopping and restarting can create gaps in the recording

Reviewing Automatic Highlights After the Match

Once the match has ended and the recording has finished processing, Highlights will be available for review.

1. Open the match from your Matches list.

2. Navigate to the Highlights (or Moments) section for that match.

3. Browse the list of automatically generated clips, each linked to its source Match Fact.

4. Play each clip to confirm the in and out points capture the event correctly.

5. Trim or adjust any clips that need refinement.

Creating a Compilation from Highlights

You can stitch multiple Highlights together into a single video.

1. From the match's Highlights section, select the clips you want to include.

2. Choose the option to create a Compilation.

3. Order the clips as needed.

4. Save and export the Compilation for sharing.

Tips

• Encourage Live Scorers to capture as many Match Facts as possible — every event is a potential Highlight.

• Review your Data Coverage before the season starts so all Competitions are consistent.

• Check Highlights soon after the match ends while the context is fresh, in case any clips need trimming.

• Use Compilations to quickly produce match recaps for social media.

Common Issues

No Highlights appeared after the match

• Confirm the Stream was actively recording for the full match duration.

• Check that Match Facts were recorded in the LiveScore App during the match.

• Wait for the recording to finish processing — Highlights are not available immediately after the Stream ends.

Highlights are missing specific event types

• Your Data Coverage level may not include those event types. Review the Competition's Data Coverage settings.

Clip timing is off

• Match Facts may have been entered late in the LiveScore App. Trim the clip manually in the Highlights section.

Some Match Facts have no matching Highlight

• The event may have occurred during a gap in the recording. Confirm the Stream was live at that timestamp.
