Detached ads are standalone advertisement overlays that appear independently of your broadcast graphics β€” meaning they can be positioned anywhere on the screen at any size, with their own timing and display rules. This guide covers creating detached ad placements, configuring custom sizes and positions, delegating ad slots to clubs through the Club Portal, and setting up time-based triggers.

Prerequisites

  • Access to the LIGR Automation platform

  • A game plan where you want to add standalone advertising

  • Ad creatives of various sizes uploaded to your organisation or clubs

  • Understanding of screen positioning coordinates for your broadcast layout

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Open the game plan and navigate to detached ads

In your game plan editor, find the Detached Ads section. Unlike in-graphic ads that are embedded within graphics, detached ads are configured separately and can overlay on top of any broadcast content.

Step 2: Create a new detached ad placement

Add a new detached ad placement and configure its screen position and size. Unlike in-graphic ads which are constrained to specific slot sizes, detached ads can be any dimension. Specify the X/Y coordinates and width/height.

Step 3: Assign ads or delegate to clubs

Assign a specific ad creative from your organisation's library, or delegate the ad slot to the home or away club. When delegated, clubs can manage their own sponsor content through the Club Portal.

Step 4: Configure timing and display triggers

Set up when the detached ad should appear. Options include time-based triggers, event-based triggers, or manual triggers from the Control Room. Configure the display duration for each appearance.

Step 5: Preview the ad placement

Use the game plan preview to verify the detached ad appears at the correct screen position and size. Check that it doesn't overlap with essential broadcast graphics.

Tips & Best Practices

  • Detached ads can be any size β€” they are not constrained to standard ad slot dimensions.

  • Use custom positioning to place ads in screen areas that don't interfere with gameplay visibility.

  • Club Portal integration allows clubs to upload their own sponsor content for delegated ad slots.

  • Detached ads overlay on top of all other graphics β€” use z-ordering if you need to control layering.

  • Combine time-based triggers with event triggers for maximum advertising flexibility during broadcasts.
