The Video Editor lets you build your own edits from the media in your LIGR Live account. You can trim clips, layer media, add transitions and animations, then export the finished video. This article shows you the three ways to open it, so you can start from the right place for the job.

Before you start
The Video Editor works with media already in your account, so make sure you have something to edit. This could be:
A video you have uploaded to Videos in the Multimedia tab.
A compilation built from your highlights.
Any mix of videos, images, audio or highlights you want to bring into a new sequence.
Highlights come from your streams, so you need the Streaming module to create them. Uploaded videos and images can be used straight away.
Option 1: Open a video from Videos
Use this when you want to edit a single video you have already uploaded, for example a match recap filmed for Harbour City (HCF) v Ridgeview (RVR).
Go to the Multimedia tab and open Videos.
Find the video you want and open it.
Open the video's menu.
Choose Edit in Video Editor.
The Video Editor opens with that video ready on the timeline. From here you can trim it, add more media, or adjust it before exporting.
Option 2: Open a compilation
Use this when you have already combined highlights into a compilation and want more control over the final cut. This is a quick way to polish a highlights package, such as all the goals from a LIGR Demo League round.
Go to the Multimedia tab and open your compilations.
Open the compilation you want to work on.
Click Open in Video Editor.
The clips in the compilation are brought into the Video Editor so you can fine tune them. You might reorder clips, tighten the start and end of each one, add transitions between them, or lay music underneath.
Option 3: Start fresh from Sequences
Use this when you want to build an edit from scratch and choose exactly which media goes in.
Go to the Multimedia tab and open Sequences.
Create a new sequence.
Pick the media you want to include. You can select more than one item.
Click Import Media.
The Video Editor opens with your selected media imported and ready to arrange. You can import more media later from inside the editor if you need it.
What you will see in the Video Editor
Whichever way you open it, the editor has the same layout:
Preview player: plays your edit so you can check it as you work.
Timeline: shows your clips, images and audio in order, on layers.
Toolbar: holds the tools for trimming, sizing, positioning, rotating and more.
Each of these is covered in its own article in this series.
Which option should you choose?
Edit in Video Editor from Videos: best for tidying up one existing video.
Open in Video Editor from a compilation: best for refining a highlights package you have already put together.
Sequences: best for a brand new edit where you hand pick every piece of media.
Tips and common mistakes
If you cannot find a highlight to edit, check that the match was streamed and that highlights were created for it.
Upload any extra videos, images or audio to Multimedia first. This makes them easy to pick when you build a sequence.
Give your sequences clear names, such as HCF v RVR Round 3 Recap, so you can find them again later.
When you start from Sequences, remember to click Import Media after picking your media. Your selection is not added until you do.
